- The project included the turnkey design and construct contract.
- 7,5 million passengers per day Durban International Airport and included a cargo handling terminal and trade port. The project included a 3,7 km runway, parallel and cross taxiways, aircraft parking aprons and all civil infrastructure required for a new airport.
- The facilities included a 100 000 m2 terminal building, multi storey car park, 5 storey office block, a crash fire and rescue building, maintenance workshops, a cargo terminal, fuel farm and associated hydrant system. The contract includes all specialist packages associated with an Airport including a baggage handling system, 14 aerobridges, 23 IT subsystems, airfield ground lighting, instrument landing systems and cargo handling equipment.
- The project was completed in 31 months from commencement to end of trial operations.
- Joint venture – WBHO’s participation 38,5% - WBHO led the EPC Joint Venture as well as the joint ventures for the Building Works and the Civil Works.
