British Academy Funded Project - Researcher/ Co- Author
I teach across multiple levels of study, including first-year courses on Principles and Elements of Design and Film, second-year courses on Social Impact Design and Title Sequencing, and third-year courses on Research Design. I also deliver specialized technology-focused content in Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects, ensuring students gain practical skills in digital media production.
In addition to my teaching duties, I am actively involved in content development for various courses, shaping curriculum to align with industry standards and academic goals. I supervise Master's and Honours students, guiding their research and creative projects. I contribute to the academic governance of the institution as a member of both the Faculty Board and Faculty Transformation Committee, where I help drive initiatives to improve inclusivity and representation. I also participate in the Faculty Marketing Committee, assisting with strategic communications and promotional efforts to elevate the department’s profile.
I had the opportunity to engage in academic and cultural exchange at the Academy of Art in Szczecin, Poland. This experience allowed me to broaden my perspective on international education and artistic practices, collaborate with peers, colleagues and faculty from diverse backgrounds, and enhance my own teaching and research methodologies in digital media and design.
As a Lecturer in Video Design and Technology at the University of Johannesburg, I taught courses on digital video production, focusing on both creative and technical aspects. I introduced students to industry-standard tools like After Effects and Premiere Pro, while guiding them through the conceptualization, planning, and technical processes of video production. My responsibilities also included marking and assessing student work, providing feedback, and supporting their development throughout the production workflow, from pre-production to post-production stages.
I was responsible for lecturing, teaching, and marking in Video Design and Technology courses. I covered both the theoretical and technical aspects of video production, ensuring students understand the creative and technical processes involved in digital media creation. I introduce students to key tools such as Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects, equipping them with the skills needed for video editing and post-production.
I taught students the fundamentals of media production, focusing on video design, editing, and technology. I facilitated lessons on the use of industry-standard software such as Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects, and guided students through the entire digital production process, from conceptualisation and planning to technical execution. I also provided hands-on support in video editing and content creation, helping students develop practical skills for both academic and professional projects.
I managed the media coverage for the Mr. and Miss UJ (APK/APB) and Central Events. My responsibilities included filming the events, interviewing artists, and photographing key moments. I edited videos and photos to ensure high-quality content that reflected the atmosphere and significance of the events. Additionally, I posted videos and images on online platforms, promoting the events and enhancing their visibility on social media and university channels. This role involved a combination of technical production skills, content creation, and social media management.
My responsibilities included assisting with filming, video editing, producing shows, and post-production tasks. I helped ensure smooth operations during live broadcasts and pre-recorded shows, providing technical support for equipment setup and managing media content. Additionally, I collaborated with producers and directors to execute creative and technical elements of the programming, contributing to the overall quality of the station's broadcasts.
