Careerachievementshighlights

  • I have worked in business banking for the majority of my career, and I found it to be fulfilling. Having customers tell you about a concept in its beginning stages and assisting them to realise their dreams is the highlight of my career.
  • I worked with a start-up client who was a Taxi owner and wanted to venture into the construction and mining industry. I assisted the client with opening the account, coached him on how to handle his financial affairs, and advised him to take up a loan to boost the cash flow. This assisted the client with paying the employees and suppliers on time whilst his capital was tied up in acquiring assets. The business has grown with a current turnover of R26 million, and they purchased a property in 2019 which they turned into an office.
  • I joined Private banking in 2019 and I have been on a learning phase. I received my financial targets in 2020 and it was the highest throughout my career. The national lockdown happened in March which meant that we had to work from home and had minimal interactions with customers. I broke down my yearly target to monthly and concentrated on reaching the monthly. When the pandemic started in March, I had reached my volume targets because of my strategy. At the end of the year, I ranked number five on my scorecard in my region for 2020.

Skillsmatrix - Skillsexperience

  • Sales/Relationship management, Being in my role and dealing with a different type of customer and having to win the customers’ trust. I have taken ownership of my portfolio by staying in close contact with customers and being their main contact point. I involve specialists to ensure that the customer experiences the full spectrum of our value proposition. Staying in contact with my customers has helped to maintain the current relationships and gives me a better understanding of their needs.
  • Self-Management, Changing jobs and joining a different company in 2012. I struggled learning new systems, new products and adjusting to the culture of the company. Basic work took double the time as I had to learn everything and it was frustrating. I made it a point to stay behind and work late to catch up to my financial target. Redoing the online training to familiarise myself with the systems and products. Requesting support from colleagues. I was able to work independently and to serve customers confidently knowing that I had the knowledge.
  • Problem Solving, Advising a customer on a review of a Structured loan facility where the security was not sufficient in 2021. I suggested solutions and options to customer in order to address the issue. I presented two options where the customer is currently paying more on the facility than the required instalment. I suggested that we reduce the facility with the advance amount on a monthly basis till the security is equivalent to the facility. On the second option the customer has an existing Home loan where he could apply for further advance. This would allow him to do a once-off reduction and the security shortfall would be addressed. The customer took the Home loan option and the shortfall was addressed.
  • Communication, Managing a review of account for a Politically Exposed Customer in 2022. I ensured that I had an open dialogue with the customer. Having a face to face meeting, explaining the required supporting documents and reason for the request. Kept the customer informed on the progress of the review and involved my manager when needed. Politically exposed customer reviews are complex but the customer understood the reason for request and provided the required information.
