Summary

My Trading and operation experience in the Petroleum Industry , is an start to end knowledge and experience accompanied by my first role in the industry as a Duty Tax Accountant which covers compliance , I further joined the Trading department for Astron Energy as a Product Operation Specialist, where I handled the operations for import and export for finished petroleum products in and out of South African ports (i.e. Cape Town, Durban PE and East London). My experience grew further when I became a Trader at Wasaa Gasses where I concluded the deals with international trading houses as well as oil majors sell to South African oil companies on the purchasing and selling of crude and finished product, interacted with global and local banks for the drafting and issuance of financial instruments (SBLC, Documentary LC, Payment Undertaking etc.), drafting of the contracts, pricing provisional and final, invoicing and margin analysis and reporting. As the trader I also handled the operation and Demurrage and shipping costs. Wasaa later acquired the BP East London terminal which is now know as the Wasaa Terminal, during my time at Wasaa I handled the operation and WASAA's own imports into the terminal, the sales to Wholesalers meaning I also have wholesale pricing experience. I then joined Shell Downstream South Africa where I handled Sasol and Total accounts, managing the length and shorts and seeing between coast and inland and the various opportunities between the Shell and the companies.

  • Registering Wasaa Terminal with South African Revenue Services (SARS) to be a Special Storage Warehouse (SOS) where petroleum product can be stored in the facility and exported via road, rail and vessel
  • Registering Wasaa Terminal with SARS to be an Importer and Exporter
  • Lead and facilitated SARS Customs and Excise site inspection
  • Drafted application letter/narrative to SARS Customs and Excise for SOS Application to inform SARS of the various process/documents that will be in place to ensure adherence to Customs and Excise requirements for exports, from product moving into the terminal and out of the terminal
  • Developed processes for Wasaa Terminal for tanks that are registered for Export/SOS Warehouse
  • Developed import process and local purchase of product into the terminal for the duty paid location/tanks
  • Applied, transferred and updated various licenses and permits needed to operate the terminal i.e., air emission, air effluent, COID, fire permit and Hazardous Waste
