As a Sales Operations and Strategy Manager at M-KOPA, my role is to drive sales efficiency, optimise processes, and enable data-driven decision-making. I focus on streamlining sales operations, analysing performance metrics, and developing strategic initiatives to support revenue growth as an emerging market, across multiple African markets.

  • Lead a team of 1 Sales Administration Team Leader, 2 Sales Administrators, 1 BI Analyst, 1 Marketing Officer, 8 Sales Training Officers
  • Implemented streamlined communication processes between 5000 sales agents and the business to ensure that queries are met within the required SLA
  • Project managed, with the project team, the migration and implementation of a new operating and CRM system within a 3 month period
  • Project managed partnerships with Telcos and M-KOPA’s partnerships team to ensure for transition of a 3rd party administering the RICA process to an inhouse operation.
  • Revamped the training academy that agents undergo to become sales agents for M-KOPA

Marketing & Sales Manager: Operations & Strategy

Ownership of the South African sales pipeline, the primary revenue engine of the organisation, leading a team of 8. This includes target setting, managing enrollment from lead to conversion and running special projects for the entire organisation’s growth. I also lead 2 marketing members, driving data analysis to inform strategies for all marketing campaigns.

  • Lead a team of 8 Sales team members, tasked in 2023 with enrolling 1120 new students across 10 schools in Johannesburg. As the revenue arm of the organisation, I implemented sales and marketing strategies that led us to 94% of target
  • Created a key partnership with education employment benefit company, Smartfunder, giving Nova Pioneer Marketing access to over 50 corporates such as Discovery, Momentum, and Vodacom
  • Project Managed the launch of all new schools built or acquired from end-to-end, leading functional heads such as Marketing, Operations, Property and Finance
  • Designed Nova Pioneer’s newest campaign which has seen a 38% increase on social media platform engagement
  • Constructed data-driven and goal-centered team growth plans resulting in two members being promoted from Associate to Senior Associate and 5 members being promoted from Co-ordinator to Associate

Marketing & Sales Senior Associate

Nova Pioneer was at its start-up phase and my role included the development of sales and marketing systems, processes and controls. Development and execution of sales and offline marketing strategies and initiatives for 3 schools, while leading 3 team members.

  • Developed the tracking tool to disseminate workable data, target tracking and customer journey metrics from Salesforce into a live dashboard from lead to enrollment for all schools across Johannesburg and Kenya. This data is used by the Commercial team, as well as Exco, School Leads and the Board
  • Instituted a shift to digital open days and assessments for prospective families during Covid-19 from in-person experiences, which was pivotal in creating an excellent ongoing experience for families and driving enrollments
  • Lead Nova Pioneer’s first acquisition, leading the project from end to end. Initially Nova Pioneer was to build from the ground up, however I had made the introduction to the owner of a school, looking to sell. The acquisition saved Nova Pioneer R36 million
  • Introduced Asana as a project management tool for the broader marketing team, creating work-flows to drive efficiency and timeous delivery of projects
  • Contributed to the creation of the metrics to measure individual and team performance based on competency, contribution and culture

  • Created key partnerships with candidates placed into new roles, as an important source for repeat business. 9 candidates that I placed continued to use Jack Hammer for further role placements within their new companies
  • Introduced as a marketing tool the compilation of an annual executive report, analysing and highlighting across industry trends on the African continent. These have since been used in news articles and university case studies

  • Hired a team of 15 tutors, all in process with their university degrees, many of whom paid for their education through their employment with Inspire tutors
  • The organisation was for profit, for purpose which enabled me to also extend my services to students from underprivileged communities in Cape Town through quarterly math and science workshops, attended by over 150 students
  • Created a key partnership with a Primary school tutoring service to feed their students into Inspire Tutors once they enter grade 8
