  • As part of my Diploma Qualifications, I had to complete 6 months' in-service training to gain experience before I could obtain my diploma
  • I June 2010 I was welcomed by Battlefields to do my training with them
  • I was exposed to a variety of duties and responsibilities so I could understand how the whole business operated
  • I was involved in housekeeping, bar-tending, stock-taking, stock distribution, conference and events handling and attended to the reception area including bookings and confirmations
  • When I completed the training, I was offered a full-time position as a Receptionist and Reservationist for the Lodge
  • My current duties and responsibilities include accommodation bookings, conference bookings, quotations and confirmations, checking in and checking out of guests and handling guest requests
  • I also have to ensure that payments are received and I have to provide information to current and prospective clients when they enquire about the services of the Lodge
  • I also have to receive clients and direct them accordingly and also handle their immediate requests and I am able to refer them where necessary
  • I also assist with management, mostly in conferencing and any other event taking place from ensuring that everything is set up in time late requirements are meet and handled to the clients satisfactory
  • Beyond that I also do admin, such as handling incoming and outgoing post, dealing with switchboard, relaying all messages, dealing with manager's diaries and all appointments, dealing with invoices, payments and chasing payments
