  • Measured hearing acuity and identified type and degree of hearing loss for patients by performing pure tone audiometry, speech audiometry and immittance audiometry testing.
  • Took ear impressions and molds, ordered instruments and fitted devices, making adjustments for comfort and optimal functionality.
  • Planned individually designed treatment programs to restore more seamless communication and improve hearing.
  • Sadly this is where i got a stroke but thank God I retained my speech and I am still recovering , I am working but looking for the better job where i will learn and grow.

I worked with my supervisor Bomikazi Hulana (senior Audiologist) doing the following duties;


. Providing audiological screening, diagnostic assessment and therapeutic management of paediatrics and adults population including attending all clinics under Vryheid hospital.


. Conducting ABR test, for paediatric population and difficult to test patients. Assessing for and fitting of assistive hearing devices. Providing aural rehabilitation, including group therapy in a multidisciplinary team. Developing, monitoring & evaluating intervention programmes.

Host health education and training workshops.


. Provide training, support and monitoring to develop, monitor and evaluate screening programme (ototoxicity and early childhood development). Cerumen management. Basic hearing assistive device trouble shooting and earmold modification. Working with OT to recommend school placement following assessment &/ management. Performing administrative tasks, including recording keeping, report writing, referrals, and participation in departmental meetings (every Friday).


. Working with other departments within the hospital such as Human resources, PHC, systems, finance and monitoring and evaluation manager. Developing quality improvement tasks to improve our performance thus improve the hospitals performance. Also got an opportunity to supervisor a community service audiologist (Senamile Mdlalose).
