Procurement Category Head: Forestry
- Developing and Implementing category strategies, optimising total cost of ownership, minimising risks, and ensuring sustainability for the Forestry Category
- Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement long-term category strategies and roadmaps in alignment with the overall procurement strategy, monitoring progress and adjusting as needed
- Ensure effective collaboration and alignment between the Group Procurement team and the South African business, fostering strong relationships and driving synergies
- Lead scoping and sourcing initiatives, leveraging market knowledge and supplier networks to identify opportunities for cost savings, quality improvement, and risk mitigation
- Drive supplier negotiations, applying strategic and analytical thinking to secure favorable terms and conditions
- Oversee the implementation of contracts and establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor supplier performance and ensure compliance with service level agreements
- Develop and execute a comprehensive supplier relationship management program, conducting audits, evaluations, and performance reviews to drive continuous improvement and maintain strong partnerships
- Conduct regular market analysis and benchmarking exercises to identify emerging trends, evaluate supplier capabilities, and seize opportunities for innovation and value creation
- Champion the digitalization and automation of buying channels, leveraging technology solutions to enhance procurement processes, improve efficiency, and facilitate data-driven decision-making
- Develop supplier transformation and localisation strategies and ensure supplier development
- BBBEE Steering Committee Member, report on the spend vs Forestry total spend, also present to the status and planned strategies to the Transformation Committee.
- Monitor and assess risks within the procurement function, proactively adjusting strategies and roadmaps to mitigate potential disruptions and maintain business continuity
- Minimize the total cost of ownership by implementing cost optimization strategies, exploring alternative sourcing options, and driving efficiencies across the procurement lifecycle for Mondi’s opex and capex spend
- Foster a culture of value creation and innovative thinking within the procurement team, encouraging collaboration, idea generation, and the exploration of innovative approaches to drive continuous improvement
- Build strong relationships with Operations teams, collaborating closely to understand their needs, align procurement strategies with operational requirements, and provide guidance on procurement best practices
- Ensure effective people management within the procurement function, fostering a positive and inclusive work environment, coaching, and developing team members and optimizing resource allocation to drive high performance
