Ensure the effective, efficient and economic utilisation of resources allocated to the directorate Assistant Asset Controller: Responsible for acquisitions, update movements/transfers, maintenance and disposals of departmental assets allocated to officials within the directorate Review monthly reports on budgeted versus actual expenditure and report on deviations/variances where necessary to senior management Participate in the development of sound budgetary planning and controls (MTEF Budgets) Preparation of correcting journals to be effected on monthly reports Participate in the co-ordination and consolidation of various budget and actual expenditure documents, including IYMs, Quarterly reports, Close-out reports, Main Budget, Adjustments Budget, etc Co-ordinate timely submission of quarterly performance reports for the directorate to the Performance Information Management team Maintain the file plan, file register, including physical verification and reconciliation of files Timely processing of invoices to avoid late payments in an effort to minimize client grievance and fruitless and wasteful expenditure Timely follow up on outstanding commitments on the BAS system and resolve delays in deliverables Co-operative participation during both internal and external audit periods Liaise with the CFO in terms of processing payments, ensuring that the payments are processed against the correct sub-programme allocation according to the Public Finance Management Act and Treasury Regulations Provision of support and assistance in implementing processes and procedures for the recording, monitoring and recovery of inter-departmental accounts
Good writing skills: Extensive experience in writing reports
Good ability to meet strict deadlines while maintaining quality work
Excellent expertise in the finance and accountancy field, problem solving and high level of intellectual curiosity, backed with pure passion for finance management and good governance

Computer literate: Worked extensively with programs such as Microsoft Office package (MS Word, PowerPoint, Outlook & Excel), Vulindlela, BAS, and the Internet
Sound knowledge of legislative and other prescripts: Constitution of the RSA, Companies Act, Auditing Professions Act, King Code, IFRS, Public Finance Management Act, Treasury Regulations, GRAPs, Division of Revenue Act, Income Tax Act, Estate Duty Act and VAT Act
