  • In 1973, I gave a demonstration in Rustenburg on how to teach Articulatory Phonetics to Deaf Children.
  • ALASA Conference at the University of Transkei in 1987, presenting a paper on the Relevance of Articulatory and Acoustic Phonetics in teaching Speech to Deaf Children.
  • In May 1991 presented a paper in Boston, Massachusetts, on Language Acquisition of deaf children of deaf parents versus deaf children of hearing parents.
  • In 1993, together with Ms Hilda Mbetha, a Deaf Activist, I recommended that South African Sign Language (SASL) must be the 12th Official Language in South Africa at a conference organised by the Department of Art and Culture in East London, led by Dr. Lindiwe Msengana-Ndlela, at the time.

  • Strategic capability and leadership: Develop strategies and business plans. Lead, coordinate, organize, monitor and control the department’s activities

  • Planning and conducting workshops: After receiving training requests, I have to plan for the workshops. This involves assisting with logistics and ensuring that activities done are within the budget.
  • Communications: Relate and engage with stakeholders at all levels (including senior). Written and verbal communication, including analysis and collation of data into reports and oral presentations.
  • Financial management: Manage the Training and Development of budget (R2 million). Knowledge of PFMA
  • Programme and project management: Participate in programme/project design (such as, problem identification, needs analysis, performance indicators and targets), implementation, monitoring and evaluation (and/or reviews)
  • Served in various Committees: 1. National Core Training Team (NCTT) and the Reference group for Inclusive Education Nationally. 2. Provincial Steering Committee 3. Adjudicator of the Provincial Teacher Awards 4. Served in the Committee of Adjudication for concessions for examinations of learners experiencing Barriers to learning.
