I joined in the beginning of covid19 period and I was tasked to design and implement a system that would unify data from private labolatories and public health data in order to have one reporting platform for covid19 cases. That entailed receiving XML files from private labolatories every one hour, cleansing and transforming the data and deploying an integrated and automated system that work together with public stytems seamlessly and efficiently

• Responsible for developing, testing ETL jobs that extract data from Oracle (tables) and load them into Netezza. This includes cleansing of the data as well as ensuring data integrity.
• These ETL jobs were created through SSIS and scheduled to run daily through SQL server management studio
• I was also responsible for the smooth operations of the Netezza Appliance i.e.Monitoring of jobs running on the Netezza Appliance;
• Structure distributions on Netezza tables as well as suggest optimization changes on long running jobs;
• Also responsible for monitoring , measuring and reporting of SLA's between divisions;
• Streamlined ETL processes by optimizing Netezza database performance, resulting in improved data retrieval times for analytics.

• ETL (Extract data from ADABAS database using NATURAL programs and JCL and loading the data into the Enterprise Data Warehouse (Teradata) using Multiloads and Fastloads Scripts. My duties also included testing once the data has been extracted and loadaed.
• Implemented automated data validation procedures, significantly reducing errors and ensuring compliance with data governance standards.

• Technical Design (Working directly with analysts, solutions integrators, data modelers , Business analysts and Project Managers in order to do technical design based on the user requirements and the function systems specifications).
• Development : We get cobol (mainframe) files from all source systems in the bank e.g. CARD division, VAF (Vehicle and Asset Finance) Division, SBIS (Standard Bank Insurance system). We take these files from the mainframe system and place them on a Unix server using Connect Direct (these files usually have millions of records) and we extract the data from these files and transform the data (converting the extracted data from its previous form into the form it needs to be in so that it can be). Transformation involves using rules or lookup tables or combining the data with other data and then we load the data into the target database.
• Testing: Once development has been completed, uni testing is then done. After unit testing and QA, we do SIT (Systems Integration Testing) which is done by an external Company WIPRO and after that we do UAT (User Acceptance Testing) before deploying our development into production.
