The committee comprise of various COSATU affiliated trade unions and it plays a crucial role advocating for a just and equitable transition for the workers. The focus is on ensuring that the transition to sustainable energy sources is fair and equitable, particularly for workers and communities that are most vulnerable to the impacts of climate change. The committee's work includes addressing historical inequalities, promoting social dialogue, and advocating for policies that prioritize the needs of working and poor people. The committee have been instrumental in shaping the Just Energy Transition Investment Plan (JET-IP) and have voiced concerns about the current form of the plan, which it is believed to favors private capital over the needs of workers and communities.
