Cable testing and diagnostics

Key responsibilities

• Conduct tests on insulated wires in aerial, underground and multiple-conductor cables to ensure compliance to local and international quality standards, these includes voltage withstand testing, continuity, conductor resistance and physical properties testing on materials.
• Conducting incoming inspections and testing of raw materials.
• Where possible, operate lifting equipment
• Conducting of routine tests in the process as addressed in the floor inspection testing and report any deviation.
• Ensure strict adherence to customer specifications.
• Ensure good quality standards are being maintained on the floor and inside the testing facility.
• Utilize standard testing procedures and equipment such as Ohm meters, resistance bridges, and power diagnostics instruments to assess cable performance.
• Ensure that good environmental control is adhered to as per ISO 14001 and EMS policies and procedures.
• Identify defects in cables by detecting sounds of escaping insulating gas from holes in cable sheathing.
• Document test results and maintain records for quality assurance and future reference.

Key responsibilities:

• Clean, select,Install and adjust dies and points based on production specifications.
• Configure machine settings, including temperature, check air pressure and speed to ensure optimal operation.
• Operate the extrusion machine to produce products that meet specific dimensions and quality standards.
• Continuously monitor the extrusion process, making real-time adjustments to maintain product consistency.
• Inspect finished products for defects, ensuring they meet required specifications.
• Utilize measuring tools like calipers to verify product dimensions.
• Maintain accurate records of production data, machine settings, and maintenance activities.
• Report any deviations from standard operating procedures to supervisors.
