Operational Finance:

  • I worked with the office of the CFO in defining best practice Planning Budgeting and Forecasting processes in line with the overall finance function strategy and how that contributes to the organizational strategy;
  • I analyzed the client's short, medium and long term budget and forecast process and identified process inefficiencies;
  • I defined more streamlined and efficient processes that reduced the planning cycle times;

There were numerous business development activities that I was involved in including ADNOC (Abu Dhabi National Oil Company - market cap - $12.15bn) and Al Futtaim Group (market cap - $136m)

  • I project managed a sizeable team of consultants and delivered a Planning, Budgeting and Forecasting (PBF) project at Al Futtaim Retail out of Dubai;
  • The client's planning processes were Excel based and highly manual, we helped the client transform their manual processes from Excel to a relevant and forward looking technology based planning solution called Analplan;
  • I led client business requirements gathering workshops from a process perspective;
  • Defined the organizations information needs, management reporting strategy, KPI and scorecard requirements and an implementation roadmap;
  • Then worked with the implementation consultants with the implementation of the Anaplan solution.

  • As a Process Engineer, my main role encompassed the analysis, redesign and implementation of priority Customs and Excise processes across Land, Sea and Air borders of entry;
  • I mentored junior engineers in best practices for process design, optimization, and troubleshooting techniques;
  • I designed and executed, through collaboration, experiments to identify process improvements, leading to reduced costs and increased efficiency (across land-border posts, we were able to slash the waiting time for trucks crossing the border through eradication of bottlenecks and pre-declarations)
  • Visited client sites to troubleshoot issues and provide one-on-one training;

As an Analyst within Finance and Performance Management, my role spanned across a number of disciplines including (below is a sample of the work delivered):

  • Cost Optimization - conducted a sustainable cost optimization analysis and provided recommendations to a large Utilities client; we were able to improve financial operations with careful, in-depth analysis and proactive recommendations for improvement.
  • Finance Process Analysis and Optimization for a large commercial Masana Petroleum, a fuel distributor in South Africa, conducted an analysis of their order-2-cash processes and identified bottlenecks and process inefficiencies. Ultimately providing recommendations and best practice order-2-cash process.
  • We built a Activity Based Costing (ABC) for the State Information Technology Agency (SITA) to account for all the IT service support provided to the client-facing functions.
