Previous experience in Funding as a Senior Clinical Risk Specialist where my role was centered around providing input and recommendations on funding decisions and reimbursement strategies based on claims trends for the scheme. My role enabled me to have an impact on access to new innovative treatments whilst looking at ways to expand access for all the medical aid options beyond just the PMBs. Pharmacist with over 4years experience in the private sector and extensive experience in hospital & retail pharmacy, surgical prophylaxis as well as antibiotic stewardship. Experience in the public sector as a pharmacist. Passionate about increasing access to healthcare and continuously evolving professionally. I have a keen interest in Health economics, Managed care and Market access which all have an impact in expanding access to innovative medicines and technologies.

  • Develop and execute optimal market access activities for identified pipe-line products and pricing strategies for these products as well as in-line products.
  • Prepare, coordinate, guide and execute Market Access policy to realise reimbursement (if any) and health economic acceptation of products by government and medical profession (to achieve access for all eligible patients and realise maximal profit).
  • Pro-actively identifies market access opportunities for BI NEMEA in a strategic plan and development of financially sound business cases.
  • Management of Pricing and Reimbursement negotiations with governmental (MOH, reimbursement agency) and non-governmental organizations (private health insurance companies, private hospitals, etc.)
  • Assess price and develop pricing strategy access potential for new and established products.
  • Internal approval of pricing strategy & CIF prices from Head of Market Access META.
  • Developed required price certificates according to market requirements if it is necessary.
  • Update BIPTrack and local pricing database when any price changes and new approvals take place.
  • Plan and execute activities which are essential to define projects, plan actions within projects and guarantee efficient execution conform given guidelines and procedures.

  • Preparation of proposals in the medicines and medical devices space for submission for product development as well as ad-hoc proposals for funding.

  • Involved in the design, development, implementation and ongoing management of health risk management initiatives – (e.g. review of the Benzodiazepine & z-drug funding and possible implementation of quantity limits to curb abuse).
  • Perform requests received from the fund, not limited to research (funding policies in other countries or similar settings), data analyses (claims trends or uptake of new benefits) and reporting; compile draft documents (proposals on recommendations of funding).
  • Compilation of presentation slides detailing performance against targets, audit findings, claims trends among many other focus areas for presentation to the fund.
  • Coordination of input from internal and external stakeholders; preparation and submission Principal Office Integrated reports to the scheme; landscaping to provide support and inform decision making.
  • Presentation and fielding of questions in Scheme Monthly operational meetings, Claims management forums (focused on claims trends across all the key spaces -my focus being on the trends in medicines and medical devices against set targets) and Service Management forums (focused on reduction of out of pocket payments).
  • Coordination of inputs from internal operations teams with regards to escalated queries received from the Fund and provide feedback to the scheme office within the agreed turnaround times.
