Facilitated work placement activities for residents by supporting participation in structured tasks such as gardening, woodwork, kitchen duties, and sewing to develop vocational skills and promote independence. Learned and applied case study writing with a focus on assessments, functional abilities, and individualized intervention planning.
• Tygerberg Hospital (Burns Ward) – 6 weeks. Assisted in the physical rehabilitation of burn patients under supervision and mentorship, contributing to treatment planning and implementation aimed at improving mobility, function, and independence. Gained valuable exposure to clinical practice, patient assessments, and accurate record-keeping.
• Heritage Manor (Old Age Home) – 8 weeks. Participated in preventative therapy programs for elderly residents, supporting mobility, functional independence, and quality of life. Assisted with activity planning, environmental modifications, and wellness-focused interventions.

Temporarily filled the school’s vacant occupational therapy position, delivering both individual and group therapy activities to support students’ motor skills, sensory processing, and independence in daily tasks. Implemented classroom adaptations and assisted teachers during lessons to promote inclusion and participation for students with special educational needs. Conducted fine and gross motor skill exercises, sensory activities, and handwriting practice sessions. Maintained progress notes and worked closely with educators, parents, and external specialists to ensure continuity of care until a licensed occupational therapist was appointed.
