• Conduct assessments and profiling of community development shortfalls challenges and best practices in the local government sphere in the province, entailing Community Safety, Social Cohesion, Migration, Social Labour Plans, Disaster Management and Municipal Health Services to mobilize support to municipalities where needed.
• Facilitate the lobbying and advocacy engagements with various stakeholders in Intergovernmental Relations structures.
• Conduct research and analysis of research frameworks and criteria for municipal profiles perform desktop research.
• Ability to work long hours voluntarily, gather and analyze information, develop, and apply policies, work individually and in a team, apply policies, strategies and legislation, work under pressure and with difficult persons and to resolve conflict.
• Report writing,minutes taking, basic computer skills and administration etiquette's.

All the above-mentioned duties are reported to the line manager who is the Senior Advisor: Community Development.

• Facilitate health and safety awareness campaigns.
• Conduct surveillance and prevention of communicable diseases through awareness campaigns.
• Monitor the procedures relating to vector control.
• Collection of water samples for quality monitoring and conducting investigations of any waterborne related outbreaks.
• Waste management and general hygiene monitoring (Health care risk waste, sanitation, health and hygiene promotion and general waste monitoring).
• Assess and monitor processes relating to the disposal of the dead.
• Compile and review monthly and quarterly reports, ensuring the SDBIP targets are met.
• Investigate all health-related complaints and make sure corrective action is taken to ensure compliance with all applicable legislation.
• Form part of the security cluster together with the Special Programs Manager in advising on the Municipal Health Services requirements during categorize events, audit health and safety compliance throughout the event.

All the above-mentioned duties are reported to the line manager who is the Regional Environmental Health Manager

• Conduct site inspections and second party assessments to ensure implementation and quality management.
• Participate in monthly meetings with contractors, committee members and other public and private stakeholders, to ensure compliance with OHS legislation.
• Facilitate SHEQ training and awareness programs to ensure that SHE management systems are clearly understood and adhered to.
• Assist contractors comply with Compensation for Occupational Injuries and Diseases Act No.130 of 1993.
• Compile and assess Health and Safety files on site.
• Assist projects with implementing and maintaining the SHEQ Management Systems.
• Monitor and evaluate safety procedures to ensure that they are in place and are aligned to SHE requirements.
• Conduct incidents investigations and report on findings through proper channels.
• Conduct SHEQ A u d i t s , Risk Assessments and Environmental inspections and recommend corrective actions.
• Develop and review procedures to ensure compliance with legislation and policies.
• Participate in developing and reviewing of SHEQ auditing tools.
• Form part of the strategic planning for the directorate.
• Assist contractors with the formulation of Health and Safety files.

• Implement the collection of domestic waste, medical, food, garden, and chemical waste in accordance with the regulations and standards.
• Supervise waste collectors and ensure that waste is collected on time.
• To supervise and manage waste collection services within hospitals and clinics.
• Conduct risk assessment to ensure the health and safety of all workers and the community.
• Chair waste meetings to discuss all waste management issues with the waste Management committee.
• Liaise wit relevant stakeholders on waste management around De Aar.
• To implement all waste management policies, principles, legislations, and standards
• To conduct training to all stuff and in communities on waste management best practices
• Liaise with the municipality on refuse removal.
• Monitor spillages of stored waste and transported waste to ensure that it is managed as follows; to prevent surface and groundwater pollution and any public health hazard.
• Plan and schedule the removal of medical waste by the service provider.
• Conduct waste management audit and thereafter write reports on audit findings and recommendations

• Assist with water sampling for quality monitoring purposes.
• Conduct health care risk waste, sanitation, health and hygiene promotion and general waste monitoring.
• Assist with inspections of food handling premises and sampling for laboratory testing.
• Assist the EHP’s with health surveillance of premises.
• Assist with the surveillance and prevention of communicable diseases.
• Assist with monitoring and control of vectors.
• Assist with the processes of the disposal of the dead.
• Assist with enforcing the regulations relating to chemical safety.
• Assist with investigations relating toenvironmental pollution and give recommendation for corrective action.
• To perform all other Environmental Health Practitioner functions as per legislation.
• To write reports onactivities conducted and conduct health education.
• All t h e above-mentioned duties are done under the supervision of Environmental Health Practitioners.
