Attend to preventative plant maintenance while contributing to the growth and effectiveness of the sugar terminals by maintaining all plant used for the intake and dispatch of sugar.

Roles and responsibilities:

• Carry out safety, quality and machine reliability improvement projects.
• Perform active management role during execution of maintenance activities and shutdown.
• Lead and co-ordinate activities to perform in the tunnels during ship-loading.
• Supervise team in the tunnels.
• Fabrication of new works and maintenance.
• Fabricate, modify, repair and install various pipe size for steam, water and molasses using different types of welding GMAW, SMAW, GTAW, FCAW.
• Perform basic fitting, rigging, housekeeping
• Fabricate fitting attachments used for joining steel sections (cleats, plates).
• Co-ordinate ship-loading operations.
• Repair and perform maintenance on conveyor belt.
• Work extended hours as and when required for the completion of work or projects.
• Responsible for the control of the supply of sugar during the ship-loading process.
• Responsible for controlling the transfer of raw sugar into the ship interface effectively.
• Fabricate new metal structures, maintain, modify and repair existing steel structures according to drawings, sketches, lay-out and templates.
• Organize and store different types of steel materials according to safety storage procedures of materials.
• Use cutting, bending, threading tools and SMAW, GMAW techniques to cut shape.
• Profile, assemble and weld various thickness types of steel sections (HEA beams, PFC, WB), sheets metal, various sizes, types and grades of angle irons, flat bars and tubes.
• Act pro-actively to breakdowns, if machines, equipment, conveyor belt or plant stops functioning to achieve productivity targets.

Providing mechanical services and support in the assigned operational areas through effective maintenance and installation of mechanical equipment and machinery by repairing, fabricating, modifying and welding structural steels and equipment at the Back-End & Juice Preparation Plant.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Adherence to safe work procedures and standards, lock-out procedures. Compliance to company standards and regulations.
• Perform maintenance work to avoid possible plant failures and breakdowns. Supervisor and delegate during shutdowns.
• Adhere to equipment inspection, maintenance, installation and construction of workplace facilities to standard and specifications.
• Inspect and check, for quality purposes, all maintenance, installation and construction I have done.
• Safe, correct and effective application of equipment and machinery utilized during duties.
• Attending to mechanical breakdowns in the plant while always ensuring all safety procedures are adhered to.
• Carry out developments of different pipe works and structural works.
• Maintaining, repairing and fabricating mechanical structures within the plant to ensure production targets are met and achieved.
• Constructing steel structures safely using machinery relevant to boiler making and mechanical trade.
• Inspecting boilers, pipes and platforms to ensure they work effectively and are safe to use and operate.
• Specialize in making, installing, maintaining and repairing platforms, pipes, boilers and tanks that contain chemicals, water or other fluids.
• Adherence to document control standards and procedures by filling and submitting feedback sheets, job cards for work orders completed for the day daily.

Carry out pipe & structural developments, fabrications, modifications, repairs and maintenance of a large variety of components in the Liquor Plant & SO2 Recovery Plant, according to sound engineering practices and equipment specifications, these including pipe work, steel structures and general steelwork. Perform Stand-By duties in other designated plants within the mill.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Completing schedule/planned fixed plant maintenance requirements. Perform daily and monthly inspections on plant equipment to identify opportunities for continuous improvement, show passion towards plant equipment.
• Complete predictive maintenance activities for example do plant pipe work, structural inspections and report abnormal conditions.
• Perform preventative and breakdown maintenance on unplanned equipment failures within a deadline time frame and under pressure.
• Complete scheduled and planned maintenance during shutdown periods. Perform all tasks relating to structural plating requirements i.e. plate developing, forming, welding & cutting etc.
• Preventative maintenance to avoid plant breakdowns and equipment failures. Perform Safety checks monthly and update Safety book monthly.
• Draft purchase requisitions to draw and obtain required material from main stores, using SAP management system.
• Creating job notifications, job cards and work orders using SAP management system, also confirm and close job notifications and work orders on SAP.
• Trim balance gas fans, booster fans & exhaust fans while adhering to safety procedures.
• Perform First Aider duties should the need arises, conduct First Aid box check monthly, update and stock contents of First Aid box.
• Uphold aspects of and perform required activities relating to the OHSA as delegated by superior while participating in and adhering to all SHEQ systems in place.
• Examine boilers, pressure vessels, tanks, or vats to locate defects, like leaks, weak spots, or defective sections, so that they can be repaired.
