The job purpose is to:

  • Manage access to information functionality through provision of legal and administrative support to City Manager as Information Officer, in terms of Promotion of Access to Information Act 2 of 2000;
  • Manage functions of Deputy Information Officers in exercise of powers and performance of duties as Deputy Information Officers in terms of Section 17 of Promotion of Access to Information Act 2 of 2000 (PAIA) read with Section 56 of Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA).
  • Manage functions of Deputy Information Officers in duties and responsibilities set out in section 55(1) of POPIA and POPIA Regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with Promotion of Administrative Justice Act, 3 of 2000 (PAJA).
  • Exercise powers and functions in my capacity as Deputy Information Officer in terms of Section 17 PAIA read with Sections 55(1) & 56 of POPIA, as well as provide legal assistance and advice to line departments in this regard.
