Mikaela Warren

Veterinary Nurse
Pretoria,GP

Summary

At the age of 16, a Veterinarian allowed me the opportunity to participate and assist at a State organized Rabies and sterilization campaign in the rural Eastern Cape for Two weeks. This became the basis for my community engagement passion. While at University, I became a committee member for VetSCO, where I ran the portfolios for veterinary nursing and education for two years. This position allowed me the opportunity to create and organize an outreach at Cosmo City Informal settlement, where we vaccinated over 300 dogs. Through VetSCO, I helped organize and participated in many other outreaches that were held by the committee. Sadly, I could not continue for my third year due to clinical commitments and I had to resign my positions. I have been a module Representative for two years in a row; coordinating between the lecturers, students and module coordinator.
