Michelle Denman

I commenced my legal career at Pather and Pather Attorneys in September 2022 as a vacation work student while completing the final year of my LLB degree. In January 2023, I was registered as a Candidate Legal Practitioner, during which I received comprehensive training across various areas of legal practice, with a particular emphasis on civil and commercial litigation. I was admitted as an Attorney in May 2025 and currently practise as an Attorney at the firm, where I continue to gain extensive experience in a wide range of litigation and legal advisory matters.

Key Responsibilities:

Assisted in preparing and managing:

• Business rescue applications and related correspondence with business rescue practitioners.
• Liquidation matters (voluntary and compulsory), including reviewing and filing of relevant court pleadings.
• Foreclosure proceedings on behalf of financial institutions and private clients.
• Attachment proceedings and enforcement of judgments, including the issuing of writs and liaising with sheriffs.
• Debt collection matters, including for state-owned entities and private sector clients, involving the issuing of summonses, default judgments, and settlement negotiations.
• Attended and participated in court hearings, consultations with counsel, and client meetings.

Additional Rotational Experience:

Family Law Department:

• Assisted in divorce proceedings, including the drafting of summonses, settlement agreements, and parenting plans.
• Attended to matters involving protection orders and maintenance orders, including preparation for court and liaising with relevant court officials and parties.

Commercial Law Department:

• Reviewed commercial contracts.
• Conducted legal research and contributed to due diligence reports for corporate transactions.
• Assisted in advising clients on general commercial compliance and contract interpretation.
