Michael Freer

Brought on as a front-end developer, my initial tasks revolved around building UI components and pages in NextJS, using libraries such as Tailwind, Radix & Shadcn. Within a few months, that was expanded to back end work including building database models and types (Sequelize & PostgreSQL), API and service layers, as well as third party API integrations, such as Mapbox and Paystack.

• Having to restart due to COVID, my newly discovered passion for coding seemed the right direction to go
• My projects have been mainly client-facing products, of which an overview can be found at yenza-site.web.app.

• My time as a music producer was split into two halves - either working on material to perform live at my own shows, or producing music for clients to be used in commercials, in-house productions or their own artistic endeavors.

• The UGA provides multiple software options in the golf live scoring and statistics tracking field
• Developed database structures and backend functionality from the ground up
• Designed & developed a cross-platform progressive web app, including bundling for the App Store and Google Play Store
• Designed and developed a web based management software, which can be downloaded as a PWA as well
• Designed and developed two display sites
• Reviewed code, debugged problems, and corrected issues.
• Technology used included Javascript, React, NodeJS, CSS, SASS, HTML, Firebase, MongoDB

• Forte App was a mobile platform designed to connect health professionals with individuals seeking help
• Designed and built the database structure using Firebase & Cloud Functions (NodeJS)
• Integrated online payment systems (YOCO & Ozow)
• Developed RESTful APIs that facilitated seamless data exchange between the app and the backend
• Built APIs and data clients to consume APIs.

• SXA was a sports company, focused mainly on cricket and events management
• Whilst I filled in as a coach when needed, my role was to essentially run the back end of the business
• This initially revolved around setting up managerial and financial systems, and then moved on to expanding our digital profile
• Through online studying I learnt how to code, and by the time COVID-19 lockdowns brought an end to this venture, I had built multiple websites, an online shop, an online booking system and an iOS app to supplement the business.
