Summary

It is my pleasure and with great interest that I am applying to be a member of dynamic team of educators in Australia I am applying for the position of Classroom teacher at your institution. Over the years, I consistently found myself in a variety of leadership roles, which led me to an array of opportunities throughout different points in my life. I also had a passion for social interaction and helping people around me. This led me to pursue a career as a teacher and I want to be known as a teacher that showed devotion and care for students so that they were able to succeed to the best of their ability. Creating a community within my classroom that supports building meaningful relationships is something that I value and prioritize. In my classroom, social-emotional learning will be of great importance. One way that I model social-emotional learning is by demonstrating respect and care for teachers and students around the school. Relationships within the classroom flourish and the students are able to build empathy and compassion for one another. These trusting relationships will allow for a classroom community where students recognize the importance of each other individually as well as together as a group. During my time as a teacher I have the chance to get to know a variety of students with diverse learning needs, interests, and personalities. That is why I constantly recognize and celebrate diversity and inclusion in my classroom. Students learn in different ways and progress at different rates which is why I do not believe in the one size fits all teaching approach. As an educator, it is my duty to recognize and think critically about the multifariousness in the classroom and create a curriculum that engages students. There has been an abundance of research of the importance of play in students learning and exploration of identity. As a teacher, I create opportunities for student choice and freedom through hands-on learning experiences and provide time to explore their own passions. I will do so by planning activities based upon student inquiry and learning in different settings (within the community and outdoors). I believe that learning experiences such as these will allow for unique perspectives and connections for students so that they are able to build autonomy in their learning. As stated in the First Peoples Principles of Learning, “Learning is holistic, reflexive, reflective, experiential, and relational”. After completing my practicums and throughout my 7 years of teaching, I have been working actively to create rich, engaging learning opportunities for the students. My goal has been and continues to be to create a safe and welcoming environment to ensure all students have the opportunity to fulfill their potential. I have taken on an array of opportunities to immerse myself in the learning, while focusing on differentiation, indigenizing the curriculum, the Universal Design for Learning, and cross-curricular opportunities I appreciate you taking the time to review my resume and I look forward to hearing from you soon.
