• Active member of Metro Quality Assurance (QA) forum to strengthen Provincial departmental eco systems regarding QA processes
• Perform incident Investigations (relating to Patient safety, Staff safety, Security breaches)
• Performed multiple mandatory and regular service improvement audits to adhere to regulations, ensuring hospital compliance.
• Performed root cause analysis to identify and resolve quality issues and defects.
• Monitor and evaluate improvement projects through out the facility.
• Conducted risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential quality issues.
• Recorded, analyzed, and distributed statistical information.
• Investigated customer complaints and performed corrective actions to resolve quality issues.
• Manage the facilities Quality Improvement Plans based on audit findings, Complaints compliments and suggestions, Incident investigation outcomes.
• Collaborated with multi-disciplinary teams to identify root causes of product issues, leading to timely resolutions and continuous improvements.
• Conduct regular training sessions on quality assurance best practices, elevating team competency levels.
• Manage the facilities database of Policies and Documents for compliance purposes.
• Manage the Western Cape on Wellness (WOW) program of the facilities.

• Reports to: Supervisor Mouldroom

Principle Duties of a Radiation Laboratory Technician (RLT Radiographer)

· Manufactured and designed devices used for radiotherapy patient treatment.

· Was responsible for the custodianship, storage and cleaning of radioactive sources, as well as designed and manufactured treatment and shielding devices for treatment of radiotherapy patients.

· Assist with the management of brachytherapy equipment and the treatment of radiotherapy patients, and have the knowledge of associated dosimetry.

· Assisted in dismantling, sorting and cleaning devises used in the treatment of radiotherapy patients.

· Was responsible for the teaching and training programme for staff and trainees that forms part of the multidisciplinary teams.

o Arranged and updated the information board for teaching purposes regarding brachytherapy devices and techniques of the past and present.

· Assisted with general administration of the tasks completed within the laboratory.

· Assisted medical physics with general radiotherapy quality assurance procedures as required.

• Assess and analyse workflow and devise a plan to ensure that the daily activities which have been delegated by the area manager are carried out correctly
• Ensure accurate implementation of protocols to enhance radiographic practices
• Document and capture the dose of all theatre screening cases completed
• Liaise with the relevant role players on issues pertaining to the service
• Assist in the collection and capturing of daily data with regards to quality assurance
• Actively participate in risk management and incident reporting
• Ensure optimal patient care and participate as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Maintain optimal radiographic imaging standards including processing of radiographic imaging
• Adhere to the radiation control principles in order to protect the patients, other staff member as well as the public
• Identify normal anatomy and recognize pathological appearances on radiographic images
• To conduct or assist in radiographic research programs
• To maintain and implement infection, prevention and control standards
• Participate in the recruitment and selection process of radiographers on an equal or lower level
• Act as a mentor for new employees and students in terms of practical training and general orientation
• Support staff members and students with research methodology studies
• Provide statistics and information on daily activities as well as equipment status
• Deputize for permanent radiographer when necessary
