Principle Duties of a Radiation Laboratory Technician (RLT Radiographer)

· Manufactured and designed devices used for radiotherapy patient treatment.

· Was responsible for the custodianship, storage and cleaning of radioactive sources, as well as designed and manufactured treatment and shielding devices for treatment of radiotherapy patients.

· Assist with the management of brachytherapy equipment and the treatment of radiotherapy patients, and have the knowledge of associated dosimetry.

· Assisted in dismantling, sorting and cleaning devises used in the treatment of radiotherapy patients.

· Was responsible for the teaching and training programme for staff and trainees that forms part of the multidisciplinary teams.

o Arranged and updated the information board for teaching purposes regarding brachytherapy devices and techniques of the past and present.

· Assisted with general administration of the tasks completed within the laboratory.

· Assisted medical physics with general radiotherapy quality assurance procedures as required.
