Physical Security & VIP Protection

• Asset Protection: Design and oversee the deployment of security technologies (CCTV, access control, alarms) and physical guarding services across all facilities.
• Executive Protection: Develop and manage VIP protection protocols for high-profile executives and visiting dignitaries, including secure transport and threat assessments.
• Emergency Response: Lead the crisis management team during security breaches, natural disasters, or civil unrest.

Health & Safety

• Regulatory Compliance: Ensure the organization meets all local and national health and safety regulations
• Policy Development: Implement safety training programs and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to minimize workplace accidents and occupational hazards.

Risk Audits & Investigations

• Internal Controls: Partner with Finance and Internal Audits to conduct risk audits aimed at detecting fraud, embezzlement, or internal theft.
• Incident Investigation: Lead deep-dive investigations into security breaches or financial irregularities, providing detailed reports and evidence for legal proceedings.

Insurance & Risk Management

• Portfolio Management: Oversee the company's insurance policies (General Liability, Workers' Comp, Property) and serve as the primary liaison with brokers.
• Claims Mitigation: Manage the end-to-end claims process and implement strategies to reduce insurance premiums through improved safety metrics.

Vendor Management

• SLA Oversight: Select, negotiate with, and audit third-party security vendors and consultants.
• Performance Metrics: Establish Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for external service providers to ensure high-quality service delivery

• Infrastructure Protection: Develop and implement security measures for critical infrastructure, including data centers, network operation centers, and remote, unmanned sites (towers).
• Security Systems Management: Oversee the installation, maintenance, and optimization of technical security systems, including CCTV, Access Control Systems (ACS) and Perimeter Intrusion Detection Systems (PIDS)
• Risk Management & Assessment: Conduct regular site security risk assessments and audits to identify vulnerabilities and implement corrective actions.
• Vendor Management: Manage third-party security vendors, contractors, and guarding services, ensuring adherence to Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
• Incident Response & Investigation: Lead investigations into security breaches, theft, or vandalism, and coordinate emergency responses.
• Policy & Compliance: Develop and enforce security policies in line with corporate standards and local legislations
• Budget Management: Prepare and manage the security department budget and forecast

• Establish an Africa wide safety and security risk management strategy, updated and reviewed on an annual basis.
• Establish safety and security operating procedures to ensure the effective management of the following safety and security risks: - Harm to people (including employees or visitors) - Theft of, or intentional damage to, moveable assets. - Intentional damage to premises. - Unauthorized access to premises.
• Ensure that all businesses and clusters in Africa have appropriate processes in place to identify the extent of their safety and security risks.
• Document and communicate safety and security risk policies across Africa.
• Establish a programme of premises safety and security risk assessments to include the following: - All Business premises. - HRP residences and events they attend. - Hotels in high risk destinations frequented by business travelers.
• Ensure that safety and security risk assessments are to be undertaken at a frequency commensurate to the level of risk as determined by the premises safety and security risk categorization.
• Establish a programme of conformance to test the operating effectiveness of safety and security controls and policy implementation.
• Establish a methodology for the safety and security risk categorization of each premises based on the level of safety and security threat, risk exposure, probability and impact of the safety and security threat being realized.
• Ensure that a person is made responsible for safety and security at each premises, and that the person is provided with the requisite level of training.
• Ensure that detailed standards are defined and implemented to manage the safety and security risk of Harm to People. The standards cover the following: - Employee safety and security including High Risk Personnel (HRP). - Travel safety and security. - Event safety and security. - Outsourced safety and security guards. - Access to premises.
• Ensure that the travel safety and security advice for High Risk destinations in Africa remains current and is subject to review in relation to changes in the risk environment.
• Establish procedures to collate data on all safety and security incidents, and where appropriate to investigate serious and violent incidents.
• Ensure that all Significant Safety and security Incidents are immediately reported to the Group COO Office.

• Identify, analyze and document all risks associated with a company's business operations, as well as monitor the effectiveness of risk management processes and implement needed changes.
• Assist with the management of all aspects of the risk function, including implementation of processes, tools and systems that identify, assess, measure, manage, monitor and report risks within McDonald's SA.

• Oversee all physical security related matters associated with McDonald's SA employees, customers and assets.

• Develop in conjunction with relevant stakeholders and implement a security strategy to guide the physical risk management process for Absa.
• Lobby and network internally in Absa as well as externally (via other Banks, Sabric, Government Departments and Service Providers) in order to establish effective management information systems (MIS) and networking processes to enhance the effective management of physical risk to Absa assets.
• Create and maintain a violent crime Predictive Intelligence capability in order to enhance security pro-activeness.
• Establish and maintain a process of continuous evaluation, measurement and updating of security policy, procedures, standards and products in terms of the prevalent and changing physical security risks for Absa.
• Conduct and manage the outcome of an external vendor Quality Assurance Survey of the total Security Service Offering on a representative sample of the total Africa Security client base.
• Responsible to ensure the compilation and presentation/motivation of Capex and Opex budget requirements for security risk mitigations by providing statistics on incident losses and predictions of future possible incident rate, discuss and determine the risk appetite per business unit.
• Provide a counter-measure effectiveness measurement model per business unit to support the relevant risk by identifying risk and providing appropriate cost effective solutions.
• Compare and evaluate product and services to ensure the most cost effective solution (product and/or service) is sourced.
• Ensure the development approval of security policies supporting procedures, standards and guidelines for the Absa Group.
• Develop, implement and maintain an overall Physical Security Protection Plan for Absa Group in line with the approved strategy and budget availability.
• Liaise with business units by providing expert opinions in order to optimize new developments, products and solutions for prevailing risk factors.
• Coordinate and control the effective investigation of all violent crime incidents directed at Absa assets in order to identify security risk related shortcomings and to ensure procedural compliance by staff and contractors.
• Take a leading and active part in Industry initiatives and formal structures with internal and external stakeholders (Absa BU's, SABRIC, BACC, SAPS, Justice, Metro, Consumer Goods Council, etc) on matters of mutual concern that can lead to optimised solutions, better crime combating coordination and/or economy of scale initiatives/solutions.
• Attend industry forums and inter-bank forums to network and establish common causes, solutions, best practices and or strategic focus.
• Ensure the effective management of service provider services to clients in order to ensure that service and product related risks are kept to the minimum.
