- Implemented Quality Management System that ensured routine verification & validation of production processes to have the right product quality always. That led to Mbarara brewery winning the Quality Always accolade for ABI group Africa zone in 2022.
- Trained and coached teams to employ skill and knowledge to deliver quality and food safe products that meet customers and consumers expectations as well as in compliance to the regulatory standards (BRC Global standard for Food Safety, ISO 9001 Quality management standard & ISO 22000 Food safety management system standard).
- Implemented, streamlined and managed product quality improvement strategies; identified opportunities and facilitated action closure with the Improvement Task Force (ITF) that led to Mbarara brewery having the best beer (Nile special - Champion beer award winner) in ABI group Africa Zone in 2022.
- Liaised with external auditing governing bodies to maintain registration to standards. Mbarara brewery products still maintain the Q-mark from UNBS for trading within the EA region. Accreditation to BRC Food standard through BSI audit firm from South Africa.
- Worked with Technical services (Engineering department) and production teams to facilitate smooth transition from off-line product quality checks to in-line product quality monitoring through installation of latest technology inline quality measuring instrumentation. Thus the process operators had instant line of sight of their process quality and this reduced their Time-to-react to any process quality deviation, leading to reduced production of non-conforming products, hence reduced blocked stock.
- Carried out quality audits to raw materials suppliers and recommended improvements that impact brewery operations in terms of quality and production efficiencies.
- Assessed damage to advanced laboratory equipment, taking action to prevent reoccurrence. Optimized the principles of phase 1 in Autonomous operation to enhance quality instrumentation health.
- Ensured safety, healthy & environmental legislation compliance through driving the implementation of regulatory and VPO Standards for the environment and safety pillars. Ensuring efficient and effective problem solving and implementation of loop closure for all Safety and environment/accidents reported in Cr360 as per VPO requirements.
- Supported and performed environment monitoring audits. As part of VPO Environment pillar requirements, I audited production and waste treatment processes for environmental legislation compliance. Checked compliance to water, storm water and effluent discharges standards, co-products & waste management systems and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Implemented policies and procedures through continuous engagement with employees and contractors on site (sharing safety alerts and imposing safety violation penalties), that led to the achievement of an internal Health & Safety agenda of zero (0) injuries throughout the year of 2022, increasing Nile Breweries Ltd - Mbarara plant's Injury Free Days for FTEs to 1416 days from the last First Aid Incident that happened 10th August 2019.
- Managed ZBB (Zero Based Budget) and CAPEX budgeting process for Quality, Safety and Environment and ensured Capital Projects completion on time and in budget.
