I am a highly motivated estimator with more than 15 years of experience with a proven track record of winning tenders and securing contracts. I have worked on a variety of projects within the civil engineering field which includes mining, bulk earthworks, solar farms, road construction, landfill or dam construction, landfill gas extraction, concrete structures, township infrastructure and bulk pipelines. I consider myself to be very professional with a strong risk awareness. I have knowledge and experience using a variety of procurement routes. My background in architecture has proven very useful with my estimating and planning duties and functions. I have a broad base of skills and abilities which covers areas including cost estimating, tendering, production of feasibility studies and estimates, risk management, monitoring and reporting as well as planning and programming. In addition, I have been responsible for cost monitoring and pre and post contract cost control and reporting on a number of projects. During my time as an estimator, I have priced hundreds of tenders and have a proven track record of securing work for several large companies. These projects ranged in value from R1 million to upwards of R1 billion. I have worked in tender departments of up to ten people with as many as 5 people reporting to me including coordinators, estimators and buyers.

As an estimator I have been involved in pricing and compiling more than 700 tender submissions with the most notable awards being:

· R23 dual carriageway road upgrades in Standerton for SANRAL - ±R353mil. 24 month duration.

· Capping & Closure of Bellville Landfill Site in Cape Town – ±R247mil. 24month duration.

· R24 dual carriageway road upgrades in Rustenburg for SANRAL - ±R195mil. 18 month duration.

· Zimbali Lakes Civil Infrastructure for Zimbali Resort – ±R235mil. 24 month duration.

· Northfield Business Estate for JT Ross – ±R182mil. 15 month duration.

· 2 contracts for Glencore to extend Tailings Dam Facilities – Total of ±R116mil. 12 month duration each.

· Flocculator & Sedimentation Tank upgrades at Zuikerbosch for Rand Water - ±R103mil. 12 month duration.

· Steyn City Development Phase 1 – ±R128mil. 12 month duration including road construction, stormwater and township infrastructure.

· Glencore Wonderkop Tailings Buttress Extension – ±R86mil. 18 month duration.

· Road upgrade for Northfields & Brickworks – ±R65mil. 12 month duration.

· Bayhead Bypass Road - ±R49mil.

· 3 tenders for Cape Town City for Landfill Material recovery and gas extraction totalling >±R160m.

· Four tenders for Capitol Property Fund in Cornubia & Clairwood in Durban totalling >±R140m.

· Anglo Platinum Mogalakwena Mine Road construction – ±R16mil. 12 month duration.

· Riverglen, Modderfontein & Dainfern Sewer Lines – Totalling around ±R40mil. 12 month duration.

· Construction of Cell 5 at Klinkerstene Landfill Site – ±R20mil. 9 month duration.

· Remediation of the Embankment between Centenary Street Bridge and Viaduct 13 on the Gautrain – ±R17mil. 8 month duration.

· Construction of a Stormwater Dam for Tshipi Manganese Mine – ±R15mil.

· Rustenburg Smelter Stormwater Dam for Glencore Mine – ±R20mil.

· Landfill Gas extraction contracts for Ekurhuleni valued at ±R9.4mil. Averaging 4 month durations installing gas wells, piping and power generating plants.

· Two Johannesburg Roads Agency(Orange Farm and Braamfischerville) upgrading gravel roads construction contracts each valued at >R40mil. Each project had a 12 month duration.

· City of Johannesburg upgrading of gravel road construction contracts in Vlakfontein – ±R68mil. 12 month duration upgrading gravel roads to asphalt including stormwater infrastructure.

· Marie Louise Landfill Gas Extraction – ±R5.4mil. 4 month contract installing gas wells, piping and power generating plants.

• As an estimator I have proven myself to be capable and competent with the following responsibilities over the years:
• Sourcing tenders through public platforms and private clients and where necessary submitting pre-qualifying documents.
• Assessment of sites, contract documents, scope, specifications, materials, locations, etc.
• Preparation of requisite documents such as company registration, directorship details, SHEQ documents, financials, insurance, tax, company experience, organograms, banking details, etc.
• Extensive use of CCS Candy estimating software during tender stage and post tender including valuations.
• Tender buying and compilation of RFQ’s with all necessary specifications and drawing information. Liaising and directing the procurement department in order to get quotations and proposals.
• Leading a team of staff and delegating tasks to oversee large tender submissions.
• Pricing of tenders including communicating with procurement department for quotes, etc.
• Involved in pricing site instructions and variation orders as well as post tender rate negotiations.
• Compiling pricing comparisons from suppliers/subcontractors to establish best value and assisting the procurement team with information regarding each contract
• Compiling of construction programmes, method statements and cash flow projections as well as monitoring of these aspects during construction phase.
• Post tender negotiations and adjustments to pricing, programme and cash flow projections.
• Post tender performance reviewing of internal estimating department as well as suppliers and subcontractors including reporting to management.
• Comparison and analysis of cost allowance at tender stage against actual cost at contract stage and cost control monitoring during contract period.
• Assessment and use of production levels with feedback from on-site staff.
• Feasibility assistance including measuring drawings, compiling BOQ’s and pricing.
• Co-ordination with engineers and clients during tenders and “design and build” submissions.
