Motivation

The reason I became a teacher is because I feel that I am privileged to work with children. I enjoy being able to release my inner child because I can laugh with the children and just get down to their level. Being a teacher enables me to influence the child in front of me. I like to learn with the children as I teach them. I pride myself in the changes I have seen from the children I teach. I believe that my job as a teacher is to not only teach them new knowledge, but also give them the skills to become better people. Learn to critically think for themselves and most importantly to believe that they can make a difference in this world. I have seen shy children become more confident within themselves. In the methods I use in the classroom, I encourage critical thinking which encourages debates and discussions which center on the content but also what is happening in the world. While teaching in Vietnam, children asked me a lot of questions and at times I had to use Google. This led to more discussions. Those were the best lessons because the children learned something new, as did I, and I taught them how to question in the world.
