Develop departmental production strategy, Provide leadership and guidance to production supervisors and the rest of Mechanical production team. Enhance departmental and department to department cohesion, communication, flow of information and ensure overall business unit performance. Formulate and recommend programs that will enhance departmental performance and increase the profitability of the company. Daily liaison with internal and external stakeholders. Day to day production planning and Scheduling. Performance monitoring of teams, processes, and output. Ensure adherence to production plan and working standards. Ensure accurate recording of daily production data. Analyze production process, procedures and identify improvement opportunities. Ensure machine availability through routine maintenance. Manage production capacity and ensure due date delivery. Participate on internal process audits and ensure close out of findings.
Quality Control
Checking the product quality standards and implementing quality control checks. Setting, maintaining, and continually improving quality standards, taking ownership of quality control (re-work, stock issues, failures) and reporting thereof. Participate in quality management audits and ensure close out of findings.
Budgeting and Control
Ensure production costs are within the set and agreed departmental budget. Preparation of accurate and effective OPEX and CAPEX budgets. Ensuring that costs are booked to correct accounts. Approve maintenance work and purchasing of equipment.
Human Resources
Hiring of personnel, development and coaching of personnel through structured programs, attendance and payroll data, Conflict resolution, change and change management for new projects. Ensure company policies are understood and adhered to by all personnel.
Continuous Improvement
Participate in development of new products and production assembly lines, Review product routings and ensure that routing times are accurate, Review products BOM and ensure correct material usage and storage location. Create and or update e-Kanban system and align with physical staging processes (Supermarkets). Drive Lean manufacturing implementation and improvement projects. Initiate and coordinate major projects (Plant layout changes, Installation of capital equipment, major repairs, ECR etc.
