Demand Planning:

• Analyze historical sales data, market trends, and customer forecasts to develop accurate demand plans.
• Collaborate with the sales team to gather insights and adjust forecasts accordingly.
• Continuously monitor demand variations and update forecasts to reflect changes in the market or customer
  requirements.

Production Planning:

• Develop detailed production schedules that align with demand forecasts and customer delivery requirements.
• Balance production workloads to optimize lead times and resource utilization.
• Coordinate with the Production Foreman to ensure adherence to production schedules and timely completion of
  orders.
• Adjust production plans as needed to address delays, equipment issues, or changes in demand.

Inventory Planning and Control:

• Monitor inventory levels of raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods to ensure optimal stock levels.
• Implement strategies to minimize stockouts, reduce excess or obsolete inventory, and improve inventory turnover.
• Coordinate with the Inventory Manager to conduct regular stock audits and maintain inventory accuracy.
• Configure the ERP system to reflect accurate inventory data, buffer quantities, and stock classifications (e.g., ABC
  categorization).

Procurement Coordination:

• Collaborate with the Procurement Manager to ensure timely sourcing of materials based on production schedules.
• Provide accurate forecasts and material requirements to the procurement team.
• Assist in setting minimum and maximum stock levels for purchased items to optimize procurement processes.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

• Work closely with production, sales, quality, and technical teams to ensure alignment of plans and activities.
• Communicate production schedules, potential delays, and inventory status to relevant stakeholders.
• Address any issues that may impact production planning or customer deliveries promptly.

Operational Efficiency and Continuous Improvement:

• Identify opportunities to streamline planning processes and improve operational efficiency.
• Implement best practices in demand planning, production scheduling, and inventory management.
• Utilize ERP systems effectively to enhance planning accuracy and efficiency.

Reporting and KPI Management:

• Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to demand accuracy, production adherence, inventory levels, and
  OTIF deliveries.
• Prepare regular reports on planning performance, highlighting areas for improvement.
• Take corrective actions based on KPI results to enhance overall operational effectiveness.

Planning and Strategy development

• Development and continuous review of production organizational structure, in line with the organizational growth plans.
• Internal talent identification and re-assignment through restructuring, coaching, and mentoring.
• Establishment and management of forums to allow for the development and maintenance of mutually beneficial relationships between internal stakeholders.
• Development and implementation of production philosophy, in line with Lean Manufacturing.
• Develop and prepare productivity and workforce management strategy.
• Prepare, track, and monitor the success of strategy and recommend updates, as required.
• Preparation of annual OpEx and Capex budgets.

Policy, Process and Standards Management

• Collaborate with HR to draft and implement new and re-implement existing company policies in line with Labour Relations Act of 1995; the Basic Conditions of Employment Act of 1997 and The Occupational Health and Safety Act of 1993.
• Formulate, implement, and manage labor standards to drive discipline and production efficiencies.
• Drive effective shop floor implementation of policies, processes, and work standards.
• Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and monitor compliance across all production cells/ sub departments.
• Part of EE committee, ensuring we comply with regulations.

Health, Safety and Environment

• Perform all OHSA 85 OF 1993 section 16.2 appointee duties to ensure overall compliance of manufacturing operations to the act.
• Ensure availability of legal appointees for training and execution of duties as per requirements of legal appointment responsibilities.
• Actively contribute to the advancement of health, safety and environment initiatives and campaigns to ensure safe work environment and preservation of good employee and environmental health.

Quality

• Actively participate in the reduction of production scrap and rework rates
• Support the organization in the compliance to ISO 9001:2015 management system requirements through the implementation of internal quality standards for quality control and assurance.
• Translate internal audit results into continuous improvement projects, to achieve full closure of audit findings.
• Enforce in-process product inspection, using drawings, gauges, assembly fixtures etc.

Production Planning and Execution, Continuous Improvement

• Development of sales dashboard to monitor customer orders and report on due date performance, Lead time, on time in full (OTIF) etc.
• Translation of sales orders into production plan and material requirements
• Management of production plan to ensure on-time delivery of sales orders and to ensure achievement of financial sales targets.
• Monitoring of in-house manufactured item stock levels, ordering of material and preparation of cutting list and production planning.
• Evaluate production capacity and ensure enough capacity is available to meet customer demand. Make decisions regarding in-source or out-source to manage demand.
• Manage and optimize all aspects of workforce.
• Follow through to ensure that quality and productivity standards of work are consistently and accurately maintained.
• Drive improvement of production processes, to transform production from job shop to repetitive production system using lean principles.
• Control production cost, through management of labor and machine performance, overtimes, inventory.
• Evaluation of BM's, product routings and cost allocation centers.
• Drive housekeeping discipline, using “5s” methodology and weekly walkabouts in the factory (Gemba)
• Ensure a productive and healthy working environment through teamwork, motivation, encouragement, coaching, performance management, fair, sensitive, and consistent use of company IR and disciplinary procedures.
• Conduct monthly staff engagement session, communicate monthly targets, achievements, and general communication issues
• Establish sound relationship with shop-Stewards and union members

Develop departmental production strategy, Provide leadership and guidance to production supervisors and the rest of Mechanical production team. Enhance departmental and department to department cohesion, communication, flow of information and ensure overall business unit performance. Formulate and recommend programs that will enhance departmental performance and increase the profitability of the company. Daily liaison with internal and external stakeholders. Manage customer complaints and ensure close out of findings. Develop performance measurement matrices and formulate working standards. Resource Management (labor, equipment, and materials).

Day to day production planning and Scheduling. Performance monitoring of teams, processes, and output. Ensure adherence to production plan and working standards. Ensure accurate recording of daily production data. Analyze production process, procedures and identify improvement opportunities. Ensure machine availability through routine maintenance. Manage production capacity and ensure due date delivery. Participate on internal process audits and ensure close out of findings.

Quality Control

Checking the product quality standards and implementing quality control checks. Setting, maintaining, and continually improving quality standards, taking ownership of quality control (re-work, stock issues, failures) and reporting thereof. Participate in quality management audits and ensure close out of findings.

Budgeting and Control

Ensure production costs are within the set and agreed departmental budget. Preparation of accurate and effective OPEX and CAPEX budgets. Ensuring that costs are booked to correct accounts. Approve maintenance work and purchasing of equipment.

Human Resources

Hiring of personnel, development and coaching of personnel through structured programs, attendance and payroll data, Conflict resolution, change and change management for new projects. Ensure company policies are understood and adhered to by all personnel.

Continuous Improvement

Participate in development of new products and production assembly lines, Review product routings and ensure that routing times are accurate, Review products BOM and ensure correct material usage and storage location. Create and or update e-Kanban system and align with physical staging processes (Supermarkets). Drive Lean manufacturing implementation and improvement projects. Initiate and coordinate major projects (Plant layout changes, Installation of capital equipment, major repairs, ECR etc.

In charge of all Industrial Engineering functions for Electronics Assembly and Processes, performing but not limited to:

• Define, develop, implement, document, and manage internal logistics processes, policies, and standards and align them with ISO 9001:2015 requirements
• Plan and improve material flow from stores to assembly lines (VSM & MIFD)
• Analyze material and stock variation (Route cause analysis) and design suitable solutions
• Determine stock levels for WIP and SM based on production requirements
• Design and implement Kanban, Supermarket and Runner system (JIT Approach)
• Integrate Kanban system with WMS (This includes setting up bar codes for Kanban items, printing bar code labels, collaborating with consultants to set up WMS scanners)
• Work with Warehouse manager to define and setup warehouse storage locations and link them with product BOM’s, routings and Kanban system
• Setup pull list areas for non-Kanban items
• Design material handling equipment
• Establish line material replenishment routes and replenishment frequency
• Determine batch quantities and rounding values and update MRP
• Revise material packaging and consult with purchasing and suppliers for implementation
