Lungile Machi

I'm Lungile, an Environmental Studies student at Wits University set to graduate soon. My academic journey has equipped me with a deep understanding of climate science, biodiversity conservation, and environmental policy. I actively demonstrated my commitment to sustainability through a successful waste reduction project, achieving a notable 30% decrease in community waste. Proficient in GIS mapping and environmental impact assessments, I'm eager to apply both theoretical knowledge and practical skills to address complex environmental challenges. As a dedicated advocate for positive environmental change, I'm excited about contributing to meaningful initiatives at progressive organizations upon graduation.

I had the privilege of representing the KZN Touch Sharks team in provisional rugby from 2019 to 2021. In 2020, I earned a spot in the SA Touch High-Performance team, but unfortunately, the plans were disrupted due to the impact of COVID-19. Upon relocating to Gauteng for university in 2022, I joined the Touch Rugby Easterns team. Subsequently, I became a member of the Women's Wits Rugby team in both 2022 and 2023, contributing to the team's success and further enhancing my skills and experience in the sport.
