Greenstone Hill

Summary

I am a engineering geologist at Bear GeoConsultants (Pty) Ltd with a demonstrated history of working in the civil, transportation, housing and mining industries.

In my current role, I have been involved in site-specific geotechnical investigations, using SANS standards, guidelines for soil and rock logging in South Africa. The projects that I have been involved in include slope stability investigations, dolomite stability investigations, pavement investigations, centerline & borrow pit investigations. I have used in-situ (SPT, DPSH, CPT, DCP, etc.) and laboratory (Grading, Hydrometer & Atterberg Limits, Triaxial, Oedometer, Permeability, MOD AASHTO, CBR, etc.) tests to derive rock and soil parameters to solve geotechnical engineering problems.

My skills include project management, planning, conducting and reporting ground investigations, developing site-specific ground models, good knowledge of rock and soil mechanics, geotechnical risk and geohazards identification, assessment, management, mitigation, data management and visualization and technical report writing.

In my previous role as a Contaminated land consultant and Senior associate in contaminated land at Environmental Resources Management (ERM), I have honed my skills in developing proposals, contaminated land assessments, hydrogeological investigations, project management, waste assessments, preparation of HSE files for site work and soil specific studies, scientific report writing data visualization and management.

I graduated from the University of KwaZulu-Natal with a master of science degree in Geology (Hydrogeology). I have been actively involved in Young Professionals Portfolio (YPP) of Groundwater Division (GWD), KwaZulu-Natal branch of the Geological Society of South Africa (GSSA) and the Groundwater Association of KwaZulu-Natal (GAKZN) as a steering committee member.

I am passionate about team building and developing people to bring out their best work ethic and potential. I was awarded a ERM Collaboration award in 2023 because of my ability to collaborate and proactively do more than expected and go beyond the assigned tasks. I was also awarded Shell Global safety award in 2023Q2 due to my ability to always ensure that I encourage safety in the workplace.

I am seeking a stimulating and challenging role as Geotechnical Engineer/ Engineering Geologist, which I believe will provide professional and personal development while fully utilizing existing skills, knowledge and experience. I am willing to travel, relocate or work overtime if the work obligations demand so.
