  • Reoriented the human capital approach towards evidence informed decision making, professionalism and service excellence driven by focusing on Key Performance Indicators and the Balanced Scorecard principles in the service provisioning at Gold One Mine.
  • Invited to re-join Gold One Mine to assist in re-establishing peaceful, mutually beneficial relationship between the mine and mine hosting communities.
  • Negotiated a Memorandum of Understanding between Gold One mine and WITS Business School – the agreement resulted in the following:
  • Continuous Management and Leadership Development Programme feeding into the talent pipeline and career progression. To date over 120 managers, supervisors, and future leaders have been development in qualifications and programs such as Managing and Leading People, Future Leadership Development, Management Development Program, Executive Coaches Program, and Executive Development Program.
  • Collaborative research agenda to comply with the Mining Charter requirements while at the same time resolving productivity issues at the mine.
  • Revived strategic relationship between the mine and Mining Qualifications Authority which over the past three years has resulted in the mine securing Discretionary Grants to the value of R 12 000 000.00. These grants were used in employee development and community development.
  • Negotiated and facilitated the signing of an MoU with Small Enterprise Development Agency (SEDA) which resulted the enterprise/supplier development ecosystem responsible to developing seven (7) suppliers with various supply contracts to the value of R 35 000 000.00 per year.
  • Negotiated and facilitated the signing of the MoU between the mine and Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality to govern collaborative relationship in the delivery of Local Economic Development Projects.
  • Negotiated and facilitated an MoU between the mine and National Housing Finance Corporation (NHFC), South African Housing Co-operative Association (SAHCA), and African Ingenuity. This MoU is currently delivering on the objectives of phasing out the Living out Allowance for employees, while at the same time securing access for all employees qualifying for Finance Linked Individual Subsidy Program (FLISP) and property bonds through SA Home Loans.
  • Negotiated and concluded an MoU between the mine and the Mining Qualifications Authority for year-on-year discretionary funding for human capital development for mine employees and the mine hosting communities.
  • Led the establishment and institutionalization of North West Tourism Board within the agreed timeframe;
  • Consistently produced accurate mandatory reports on time and presented such at both the board and legislature levels;
  • Build a team of destination marketing into a focused, coherent and result oriented organization from diverse orientations and philosophies – a staff compliment of 214;
  • Effectively represented North West Tourism Board at international forums such as Durban Indaba, World Travel Market – London, World Travel Market – Cape Town, ITB Berlin, International Tourism Fair – Serbia, Tourism Investment Conference – Dubai and Tourism Trade Fair – Zambia.
  • Provided an efficient hospitality and tourism training and skills development entities that complied with all training protocols while at the same time delivering the sought-after hospitality and tourism graduates;
  • Delivered key socio-economic transformation programs and projects within budget for internationally listed mining operations while at the same time effectively balancing all stakeholder expectations – budgets in excess of R 80 000 000.00;
  • Developed funded research proposals which in turn delivered comprehensive research reports that activated policy interventions for the mining sector;
  • Through transformation programs and projects, delivered sustainable SMME’s and empowered entrepreneurs through a multi-stakeholder development intervention; and
  • Participated in the drafting of the co-operative legislation at NEDLAC level.

  • Successfully renegotiated Social and Labour Plans timelines and targets with the Regulator (Department of Mineral Resources).
  • Researched, conceptualized, written, and secured internal Social and Labour Plans (2) funding commitment with all critical internal stakeholders within two months.
  • Secured approval of the two Social and Labour Plans by the Regulator within three months from re-joining Gold One International; and
  • Mapped, prioritized, and consulted all critical external stakeholders within three months which led to secured stakeholder buy-in of the Social and Labour Plans prior to submission to the Regulator.
  • 2. Chief Executive Officer – North West Tourism Board (July 2016 – January 2019) Achievements and Responsibilities
  • Developed and secured Board Members’ buy-in on the entity’s five-year strategic plan;
  • Within the first year, developed and facilitated approval of the entity’s internal control environment – policies and procedures;
  • Reduced and streamlined the number of executives from 13 to 5 without laying-off any employee while securing buy-in on work-flows, organizational structure, and strategic focus of the entity;

  • Streamlined stakeholder liaison and relationship management in different jurisdictions, i.e. Eastern Cape, Gauteng, Free State and Mozambique. This also included nongovernmental stakeholders such as Mining Qualifications Authority, TEBA, MDA and Health NGOs in Mozambique;
  • Built and Maintained sound relationships between mines and mine hosting communities;
  • Facilitated the establishment of a multi-stakeholder mining forums in different jurisdictions;
  • Established and coordinated Future Forums at all the mines/shafts owned by Gold One International; and
  • Responsible for all statutory transformation compliance reports for all the mines/shafts.
  • 5. Social and Labour Plan Coordinator – Aflease Gold (Subsequently Gold One International) (2008 – 2010) Achievements and Responsibilities
  • Led and coordinated the drafting and submission of the Modder East Operations and Sub-Nigel Social and Labour Plans to the Department of Mineral Resources;
  • Established and became the custodian of Employment Equity Forum and reporting thereof;
  • Managed Skills Development Portfolio;
  • Designed and implemented Enterprise and Supplier Development policy and strategy;
  • Established a community based cooperative enterprise (R 3 000 000.00) and facilitated supplier contracts with local fresh produce retailers;
