  • Manage and control activities of Network Operations and Control Management at Voltage levels of 275 000 Volts down to 11 000 Volts, by monitoring the capacity and the demands of the City of Tshwane’s Electricity network.
  • Manages the overall implementation of the City’s load, Load Reduction, Load Shedding in conjunction with System Operator National Control Eskom.
  • Manage and control the application of resources and expertise used in the Technical Services Section to ensure the key performance areas of position are adequately met and performed according to legal requirements as well as standards set by NERSA and other standard generating bodies applicable to field of responsibility.
  • Responsible for safe and effective Control of the High and Medium Voltage systems, being the supply networks at voltage levels ranging from 275 000 Volts, 132 000 Volts, 33 000 Volts and including 11 000 Volts and 6 600 Volts outgoing circuits at Substations with the Primary Voltage in High Voltage system range.
  • Ensure service delivery, network switching for all customers connected to the High Voltage networks.
  • Managing and evaluating the feasibility and safety connections of Small-Scale Embedded Generation (SSEG) systems to the City of Tshwane’s electrical network, including giving guidance and communicating the technical requirements to the applicants of SSEG systems, for a successful application.
  • Managing the operational and project related expenditure against the budget allocations of Technical Services Section.
  • Manage the Protection systems, Secondary and Primary Testing and Substation Technical Audits, to ensure effective quality of service and quality of supply of both the High Voltage and the Medium Voltage Electricity supply.
  • Ensure safe working environment for Technical Services teams in accordance with Occupational health and safety act (Act 85 of 1993), and General Machinery Regulation (GMR)
  • Coordinates the specific administrative and reporting requirements associated with the key performance and results indicators of the functionality.
  • Continually measuring outputs against agreed laid down norms and standards and implementing changes where necessary to conform.
  • Oversee the execution of Capital projects to ensure the long-term provision of electricity.

  • I was responsible for supporting the regional depots with the electricity software solutions to be utilized in their working space by updating Smallworld program which assisted the teams with the schematic diagrams of their surrounding Electrical Network
  • I was the project manager for implementation of all software programmes to assist the maintenance and Capital Project teams.
  • I was also responsible to update the electrical network diagrams on the small world software packages.

  • I was responsible for the Maintenance planning of all electrical distribution Network for the depot, including unplanned/planned work and projects of the following:
  • Medium and Low voltage network (Overhead Lines, Underground Cables) by creating Jobcards to operational teams using SAP Plant maintenance tool and Smallworld & Powermap for the network schematic diagrams, and arranging switching, Testing and excavation requests and permits via electricity control room. Also arranging materials for the maintenance team using SAP reservation.
  • Secondary Substations & Mini-Substations by creating a Proactive Maintenance Plan for operational teams to inspect substation equipment’s including the substation Breaker Maintenance which was scheduled for three years or within minimum trips of about three to five times.
  • Streetlights and High mast lights maintenance by creating scouting list of all streetlights in Main routes and a schedule for all streetlights of the whole area including pole testing and luminaire replacements.
  • Meter Boxes and pole Mounted Boxes by creating a scheduled inspection list per meter box on a monthly basis.
  • I was the HIRA team leader for Soshanguve Electricity depot and developed the Hazardous Identification and Risk Assessment Plan for Region 1 Energy and Electricity Services in 2013.
