Research Projects

Collaborative Research Project

The following project is in the process of registration.

Prof H Majane1, Prof L Hay1, Prof Mntla2, Prof Norton3, Prof A Woodiwiss3, Dr Scott L1. Aortic function in heart failure patients with a preserved ejection fraction

1Department of Human Physiology (SMU), 2Department of Cardiology (SMU), 3School of Physiology (Wits)

Currently, there are 7 postgraduate students currently associated with it, and 1 graduated in 2019 (receiving a best postgraduate reward). Also, several MMed students are doing the research component of their degrees in the context of this research project. I was part of the conceptualisation of the project, and my contribution is based on the skills I have in the field of cardiovascular research. I am rather excited at the impact this project will have on research capacity development in departments of Physiology, as well as Cardiology
