Role and Duties

An enrolled nurse (ENA) is a nursing professional who provides essential patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse (RN), focusing on basic nursing tasks, patient monitoring, and support in healthcare settings.

Enrolled nurses play a vital role in healthcare by supporting RNs and ensuring patients’ day-to-day needs are met. Their core responsibilities include:

• Patient Monitoring: Regularly checking vital signs such as temperature, pulse, blood pressure, and glucose levels, and reporting any changes to supervising RNs.
• Assisting with Daily Activities: Helping patients with bathing, dressing, feeding, mobility, and comfort.
• Wound Care and Basic Procedures: Cleaning and dressing wounds, assisting in medical procedures, and supporting physicians or RNs during treatments.
• Documentation and Reporting: Maintaining accurate patient records and reporting observations to the healthcare team.
• Emotional Support: Providing care and reassurance to patients and their families.

• Performed wound dressings under the direction of a registered nurse, promoted healing process.
• Conducted routine checks at regular intervals to monitor progress.
• Communicated clearly with patients and their families, establishing trust and rapport.
• Responded rapidly to emergency situations, ensured patient safety.
• In the afternoon weighing the babies and helping the sister in charge with family planning
• Performed daily clinical observations, recording medical data accurately and securely.
• Adhering to infection control protocols to prevent the spread of disease in the ICU
• Monitoring patient’s health condition continuously and reporting any changes to the doctor
