  • To facilitate and manage all trauma and trauma related requests for individual, family, group or any other ICAS client

  • To attend to call-back requests assigned within required turnaround times
  • To monitor the level of satisfaction a client has with services received
  • To liaise with other ICAS departments and governmental and non-governmental stakeholders regarding their processes and protocols (for example, crime reporting with SAPS, refugee and migrant rights, repatriation of body, etc.)
  • To keep manual records if and when the system is down
  • To ensure continued management of trauma requests, including administrative and counseling services
  • To provide follow-up support to all referees, where applicable and if necessary, and to ensure that ongoing support is provided via the EWP service

Practical Experience

  • 1ST YEAR, Department of Social Development, Brits, Shadowing a social worker for one day, the social worker's task for the day was to do intake. Cases dealt with on the day, child abuse, marital challenges and violence. Group work - my role was that of a participant, the sessions were facilitated by 2nd year students and the aim was to observe the group dynamics as well as how the facilitators utilize the leadership skills.
  • 2ND YEAR, University of Pretoria, Individual work - Recruit one of the students within the university, interview the student and implement the values and principles of social work. Group work - my role was that of a facilitator, I was required to recruit members of the group within the university and facilitate a group work series with four to five sessions also incorporating all stages and phases of the group work process.
  • 3RD YEAR, CMR Derdeport Office, Individual work - I was allocated a case of a family, where I had to do a couple of home visits and provide psychosocial support to all members of the family. Group work - The group work series was conducted at Hamilton Primary school in Pretoria with six learners from grade three. My role was that of a facilitator. Community work - Funanani NGO - we were required to implement a community work project for the organization to bring change into the community.
  • 4TH YEAR, Tswana Rehabilitation Hospital, I was placed at the neuro ward where I was working with patients who have suffered a stroke, brain tumor, elderly people, traumatic brain injuries. I was working within a multi-disciplinary team. I was responsible for providing psychosocial support to the patients and their families, providing feedback during family meetings, discharge planning, group work with the care givers of the patients.
  • MASTER'S LEVEL, Noma's Old age home, I had to find an organization to do my practicals and I managed to get assistance from the above mentioned NGO. I was working mainly with older persons with different health conditions such as arthritis, dementia, recovering stroke patients and Alzheimer's. I conducted individual as well group work sessions and my group work series focused on educating older persons on arthritis and its different forms.
