- Install, program, commission and decommissioned telecommunications equipment at radio sites and Eskom substations
- Apply root cause analysis and fault finding steps when attending faults and during monthly maintenance at sites on Microwave technology equipment, DC backup systems like Sealed/Vented Regulated Lead Acid batteries and chargers like Cordex and Static Power, Optic Fibre and cable splicing when commissioning sites or in cable break, two-way Mobile Radios using Area radio which also provides communication for ERTUs and RTU for Eskom Distribution and Transmission
- Calculation of battery capacity and life-span estimations, network planning of new site establishment with consideration of all the licensing(RF), Arial polling/excavation (Fiber networks) terrestrial factors, landscape affecting line of sight for radio network, climatic factors, choosing of equipment that will provide optimum connectivity and integrating the new to the existing network, cost of implementation of the project, duration of the project and cost of maintenance and profitability of the new network
- Conduct bench tests on project approved equipment before installing at sight to check faults, program before installing and confirm that equipment is received in working form
- SCADA system used to monitor and control the network remotely
- Worked on equipment using Internet Protocol (IP) technology, setting up Local Area Network(LAN) and Wide Area Network(WAN), programming CISCO ROUTERS and ABB radios, as well as maintain PABX switches as well
- Acquired advance and defensive driving skill and due to the nature of the work that requires outdoor activities, knowing how to conduct first aid skills on fellow colleges comes with the job and training
- I was a SHE Representative which required of me to conduct safety meetings monthly, share safety procedures, I have a good understanding of OHS Act and standards and I am always up to date with the standard changes (e.g ISO 45001:2018, ISO 9001:2015,OHSAS 18001 etc) and I assess waste disposal methods, check sub-contractors safety files and assess their protective wear & first aid kit and fire extinguishers and check risk assessment
