I left the Shoprite group at the end 2018 to pursue a career as an Operations Manager.

My duties entailed:

• Collaborating with customers and technicians.
• Devising processes to boost long-term business success and increase profit levels.
• Managing projects.
• Managing staff and technicians.
• Building good relationships with customers.
• Ensuring the target productivity levels are achieved on a daily basis.
• Producing written reports and making presentations.
• Undertaking training and development.
• Performing root cause analysis and resolving problems.
• Developing and implementing strategies and procedures.
• Conducting performance reviews and managing employee relations.
• Providing direction and accountability for the operational team.
• Assisting with training as required.

In 2013 I was promoted to a Geneal Manager position and was tasked with the opening of a new store in Bryanston with +-100 employees. After a successfully launching the new store. I managed Bryanston for 2 years and went on to revamp and launch 2 more stores.

In summary I was General Manager of 6 branches over a 6 year period.

My duties entailed:

• Planning and implementing strategies to attract customers.
• Organizing budgets, overseeing P&Ls and achieving margin targets to stay on track with growth plans.
• Reducing risk by managing shrinkage processes and controlling stock levels.
• Developing effective business plans to align strategic decisions with long-term objectives.
• Managing budget implementations, employee reviews, training, schedules and contract negotiations.
• Assessing reports to evaluate performance, develop targeted improvements and implement changes.
• Monitoring and appraising employee work results, by training Managers to coach and discipline employees.
• Overseeing HR needs.

After the completion of my two year training program I was promoted to a Sales Manager position and for the following 5 years I managed the following departments.

Non-Foods, Groceries, Fresh Food, Perishables and Admin.

My duties entailed:

• Scheduling staff and time management.
• Coaching and mentoring.
• Merchandising.
• Stock ordering.
• Departmental budgeting.
• Loss prevention.
• Customer service and relations.
• Undertaking Audits to eliminate discrepancies in stock holding.
• Reporting daily to the General Manager.
• Basic departmental housekeeping.

In 2006 after successfully managing the warehouse and stock rooms, I was selected to become part of a 2 year Trainee Manager program.

I started my career in the warehouse and was quickly promoted to Warehouse Supervisor.

My duties entailed:

• Monitoring adherence to safety protocols and company policies.
• Supervising warehouse operations by managing employees during shifts.
• Maintaining high levels of accuracy during daily stock counts and operations.
• Managing merchandise inventory.
• Overseeing daily operations, shipping and handling processes.
• Keeping detailed records of merchandise inventory transactions.
• Recording information, shortages and discrepancies to keep records current and accurate.
• Overseeing the overall maintenance of the stockroom to meet housekeeping standards.
