Prevention Collaborative

At the Prevention Collaborative, I head up the Investing Wisely initiative which focuses on understanding how Global North funding is deployed for violence programming in the Global South. It examines the impact of donor policies, practices and procedures on funding amounts, timeframes and flexibility. it analyses how power relations amongst different actors affect programme design and who gets to participate in agenda setting. It also seeks to reflect on how the political and institutional forces that affect bilateral and multilateral donors who fund prevention work.

Human Science Research Council

At the Human Science Research Council in South Africa, my work is to edit and comment on the development of social and economic policies that seek to address social inequity, improve vertical and horizontal accountability in governance, and enhance service delivery. From time to time, I also train others in public policy analysis.

Accomplishments

The accomplishment that I most pride myself on is my ability to work collaboratively with others, to consistently find ways of incorporating feminist praxis into the ways in which I work. I strive to remain cognisant of power in my interactions with others and to work and live in a way that reflects a deep seated appreciation for humanity and the promotion of human rights ad social justice. I get this wrong at times, but strive to be reflexive in all that I do.
