Over the past three years I have proven myself to be a dynamic Field Technician at Solutions-4u. I am a quick learner, excelling in equipment maintenance and customer relations. I have proven ability to enhance operational efficiency through proactive problem-solving and effective communication. I am skilled in hydraulic and mechanical systems, ensuring safety and reliability while fostering strong client partnerships and relationships. I am committed to delivering exceptional service and minimizing downtime, while seeking to improve myself and skillset.
As a field technician, on a daily basis I am responsible for the servicing, fault-finding and repairs on large material handling machines such as forklifts, articulated lift trucks, reach trucks, PPT's, order pickers and automated storage units.
My responsibilities entail, but are not limited to the following:
1) I am a hardworking person and a team player I enjoy interacting with others and consider myself a good listener, good communicator and a likeable person
Socially, I believe I have the necessary skills to communicate with others and work in a team I can also take initiative in leading a team to get a job done quickly and efficiently
On the job, I have learnt and continue to apply the following technical skills:
1) Materials management: On a daily basis, I am required to safely load, transport and install heavy and potentially dangerous components such as masts, counterweights, axles, differentials and solid rubber tyres with the aid of heavy duty machinery I am experienced in and licensed to operating heavy machinery such as CBLT's with capacities ranging from 2,5 -7 tons
2) Safety management: Due to the risks involved in my line of work, I am required to conduct myself in a manner that protects myself and those around me when working Due to this, before any task is commenced, I am able to identify possible risks and make necessary adjustments to ensure the task at hand is completed safely With this I have obtained the necessary skills to block or lock out moving parts when replacing components or doing any sort of maintenance
3) Working at heights and in confined spaces: In my line of work, safety is our biggest priority When doing installations of our automated storage units and container handlers, we are required to work on elevated platforms and scissor lifts These units range from 8m-14m in height and thus we are required to work at heights I am trained and licensed in working at heights and am familiar with a work harness I am able to safely and efficiently work in the air while wearing a harness I am also comfortable with working in dark and confined spaces
4) Equipment maintenance: In my line of work, our machines face significant strain and wear-and-tear As a result of this, regular and thorough maintenance is needed to maintain but also prevent significant component failure With regards to machine maintenance, I have experience in the following areas:
*Baseline service: Consists of washing the entire unit and greasing all points, as well as draining and filling the engine oil and fitting new engine oil and air filters
*Major service: Consists of the above mentioned, with additional installation of new hydraulic tank filters and transmission filters The transmission gets drained and filled and the radiator gets flushed and bled
*Bearing and brake services: Consists of stripping the rear and front wheel assemblies and greasing shaft bearings
Brake services consist of fitting new brake shoes, bearing and all other components I am also experienced in bleeding and adjusting hydraulic brake systems
*Replacing vital components in hydraulic and cooling systems: I have experience in stripping and fixing hydraulic pumps, fittings and valve banks, as well as replacing water pumps and radiators on internal combustion engine units
