Mathematics Tutor

My dream and passion was to be a teacher , in order to make a difference in the lives of students , especially to those who believed that they couldn't do mathematics. Upon graduating with a Bachelor of Education in Intermediate & Senior Phase I embarked on tutoring students after working hours. Over the last 5 years I have tutored 18 students. I have built up my student base by word of mouth, I have references from parents of students that I tutored. My belief is that every learner is unique and deserves the opportunity to be in an enviroment that challenges them as well as celebrates their individuality . I am a believer that each student deserves to have equal opportunities to succeed socially , emotionally and academically.

Grades : 5 to 10

Curriculum : CAPS

Content Taught : Mathematics - Algebra ; Geometry ; Trignometry ; Data Handling(Statistics)

Duties included :

• Assess students prior to taking on student to establish what their foundations are and what assistance is required.
• Prepared lesson plans as per grade levels
• Explaining mathematics concepts in easy & understandable terms to students.
• Using real life examples to teach geometrical concepts.
• Developing students interests in mathematics.
• Preparing students for tests and exams.
• Assigning homework and marking homework.
