Work History

Social Worker

Abba Specialist Adoption and Social Services
10.2023 - Current

In my previous role within the Adoptability team, I was responsible for receiving and reviewing referrals from external organizations. I provided counseling to parents facing crisis pregnancies, including option and adoption counseling. I handled statutory interventions related to child placement, investigated the adoptability of children, and prepared and supported parents through the process of consenting to adoption; and compiled professional reports based on thorough investigations, which were submitted for court proceedings.

In my current role within the National team I am responsible for reviewing adoption applications and conducting thorough investigations into the adoptability of children. I provide options and adoption counseling to parents and, when necessary, extended family members. I perform psychosocial assessments of both the child and the parent(s) to evaluate caregiving capacity. My duties also include preparing and assisting with consent signing, screening prospective adoptive applicants, compiling investigative reports, managing statutory proceedings for child placements, and facilitating the finalisation of adoptions through the Children's Court.
