Jacob Tinotenda MADONDO

Religious - Order Of Preachers
Pietermaritzburg

Summary

Young man with a strong Catholic background. Well exposed to several duties done by priests. Some of the key duties include; administering communion to the sick, proclaiming and preaching the Gospel, visiting the poor (materially and spiritually alike), providing counseling to various people, as well as overseeing all parish activities (if one is a parish priest). This entails that being a priest is primarily an animation of service in which the presbyter is available at any given time to all people comprehensively, aiming at building and guiding the Church in the name of Christ, who is head of the body the Church. All this is possible through the equipment of study.

Additional Information

1. Resist moral failure

Moral failure is probably the most difficult mistake for a minister to overcome. God may forgive me but the trust lost before people I serve is hard to regain. Paul’s advice to the young preacher, Timothy, was to “flee youthful lust”. It is a grave mistake to believe that I am above temptation. Satan can design a trap just for me. Integrity is defined by who I am when no one is looking.

2. Guard myself against the appearance of evil

A good reputation can be lost by what may be innocent but appears questionable. Everybody watches the minister. It is part of the territory of ministry. A minister would be wise to never get into a situation where his motives or actions are ever questioned. This is one of my principles.

3. Be yourself

A simple but important part of having integrity as a minister is to be who I am meant to be. God made only one of me. Becoming all, he intended me to be is my primary goal. Trying to be someone else will put me in bondage.
