• Wearing the required PPE and following mine safety procedures.
• Monitoring the winch and load continuously during operation.
• Stopping operations immediately when unsafe conditions or emergencies occur.
• Completing post-operational checks, logbooks and shift handovers.

• Inspecting the stope and working area for hazards before starting work.
• Installing, extending and maintaining water, compressed-air and ventilation services.
• Installing and maintaining hoses, pipes, valves and fittings.
• Assisting with the installation and movement of electrical cables and other services, where authorised.
• Maintaining proper ventilation and ensuring working areas receive adequate airflow.
• Keeping travelling ways and working areas clean, accessible and free from obstructions.
• Checking for water, air and service-line leaks and reporting or correcting defects within their authority.
• Assisting mining crews with the preparation of the stope for drilling, cleaning and production activities.
• Ensuring services are correctly positioned and protected against damage from equipment and blasting activities.
• Following PPE, isolation, lockout and mine safety procedures.
• Reporting unsafe conditions, damaged equipment and defective services to the responsible supervisor.
• Assisting with housekeeping and general stope preparation to maintain a safe workplace.

• Assisting artisans with maintenance, repairs and installations.
• Preparing and handling tools, equipment and materials.
• Cleaning equipment, components and engineering work areas.
• Assisting with inspection and identification of equipment defects.
• Supporting the replacement of worn or damaged components under supervision.
• Following lockout, isolation and permit-to-work procedures.
• Assisting with the movement and positioning of equipment and components.
• Performing basic maintenance tasks within authorised limits.
• Maintaining good housekeeping in workshops and work areas.
• Wearing the required PPE and complying with mine safety procedures.
• Reporting hazards, defects and unsafe conditions to the artisan or supervisor.
• Storing and caring for tools, equipment and materials after completing work.
