Want I am about: After finishing school, I began working for a trailer business located next to the Kyalami Racetrack. Over three years, I progressed from a counter trailer rental assistant to sales, and eventually into a combined sales and workshop management role. My responsibilities included managing inventory, coordinating workshop operations, and supporting customers through sales and service. Towards the end of my time there, I was also responsible for handling the licensing of new trailer, I sold, as well as completing roadworthy checks on both new and existing trailers. I remained with the company until 202 December, when I was retrenched due to the business facing financial difficulties and being unable to maintain its existing staff levels.
I was then referred to a new opportunity by a sales representative who used to call on the store, which led to my current position at Moto Quip, a division of Bidvest, where I work as an Internal Salesperson. In this role, I capture data, open COD wholesale accounts, respond to website enquiries, and process orders for major retail customers such as Mica, Game, Makro, and Leroy Merlin of which some come through in or EDI portal. I also handle bookings and order processing for online customers, including Amazon, Takealot, OneDayOnly, Mr DIY, and more recently Leroy Merlin’s online platform. The systems I am now proficient in includes Skynamo, EDI, Adaptris and both Amazon’s national order and booking portal
Outside of work, I enjoy playing rugby and touch rugby, paddle, spending time near the ocean, and listening to music. I completed my schooling at King Edward with a bachelor’s pass. (enjoyed my time there both academically and on the sports field
Tasks I carry out as an internal salesclerk:
My day-to-day tasks include capturing orders that I receive via email or phone from our customers. At 9:00 AM, I released a report of Moto Quip’s Takealot’s orders to our warehouse picking manager, who distributes them for special packing. This process is repeated at 12:00 PM. Throughout the day, I also release orders received through our EDI system, making any necessary bookings for stores on their respective online portals, such as DC’s. For the remainder of the day, I focus on capturing and processing orders to ensure all customer orders and queries are fulfilled. Additionally, on certain days, I arrange urgent deliveries coordinating between our dispatch manager and distribution centers.
Worthy note: I manage relationships with corporate gifting companies, helping them to secure and grow their business, including sales that I played a key role in closing and am particularly proud of. especially ones I received from our website enquiry system. On top of this, I am partially proud of having closed a few bigger deals over my time in this role.
To sum up: I feel like that I’m ready to take another step in my career and explore opportunities beyond internal sales. I am eager to continue learning and growing where my abilities can be fully utilized.
