The main activity of the Shared Services Unit is rolling out of Enterprise Risk Management.

The environment in which organisations operate is in a constant state of flux. The changes in the business environment are brought about by socio-political, legislative, economic, and natural environment factors. To be able to navigate this turbulent business environment, organisation must, on a continuous basis, lookout for both internal and external factors that could have a negative effect on and opportunities that could influence the achievement of its objectives.

Managing the rollout of the school maintenance programme for the Eastern Cape Department of Education.

  • The Eastern Cape DoE awarded the CDC 106 schools to renovate in Nelson Mandela Bay Metro, commencing at the beginning of the 2016/17 financial year
  • The maintenance required by the Client Department for the schools consisted mainly of rehabilitation of these facilities to conditions that are conducive to a learning environment as prescribed by the Norms and Standards of the Department of Education
  • The maintenance consisted of rehabilitation, comprising of renovations, which were intended to restore items to acceptable conditions by the renewal, replacement, or mending of worn, damaged or decayed parts and the carrying out of action to restore the assets that had deteriorated, to an unacceptable condition to its original “as new” condition
  • The cost of maintenance work on the 106 schools was estimated to be R781 million.
