PERSONAL SHORT BIO

Fayez Tembon is a daughter, a wife, a sister, a friend, a mother, a mentor, and a mature lady with a profound love for sustainable environments. Fayez completed a Ph.D. degree in Environmental Management in 2022. She holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Project Management (Cum Laude) and has completed a 6-month skills program in Environmental Impact Assessment and Environmental compliance (Passed with Distinction). She is registered as an Assessor and a moderator for several Environmental and project management qualifications with the SETAs and the QCTO. She is a member of EEASA, SACE, and IAIA.

Fayez started her career as a high school life sciences educator, where she taught for more than 11 years, while simultaneously tutoring B(Ed) honors students at the University of Johannesburg. She was further appointed as the Environmental Education lecturer and research supervisor for post-graduate honors students. Following this, Fayez was called upon by WESSA to take up a position as a Senior Training Officer in 2017. She has gained a lot of experience and has since grown up the ladder to a Training manager and to a Strategic Lead for WESSA Training as she led their Environmental Skills Development Department. Fayez loves challenges and one of her greatest wishes is to join hands in upskilling the communities on different strategic aspects of environmental management. With this, she has partnered with her husband to establish the FAKANAM Green School of Excellence and Consulting where she functions as the Acting Managing Director, while she seeks permanent employment. The school aims to create a new generation for ecological footprint reduction with a cradle-to-the-21st-century career mindset. With many years of training in Environmental Impact Assessment strategies, Fayez has a strategic lens that she uses in developing contextually relevant training programs and training material that are both environmental risk-preventing and risk-mitigating oriented. With great love and passion for the environment, Fayez spends some of her leisure time in her organic vegetable garden as she cultivates vegetables for herself, her family, and the children at the Green School. Fayez is a member of social groups such as the “Dynamic Ladyz” group and the founder of a women's group, META CAREER WOMEN in South Africa. Both groups have sustainable people and environmental interests.

Throughout her career, Fayez has exhibited strategic and results-oriented business leadership skills with experience in strategy, planning and operations. Skilled in developing and executing business plans to maximize profitability, streamline operations and maintain compliance with industry regulations. Proven people leader motivates and optimizes staff performance and productivity.
