• Provide strategic leadership to the directorate, in collaboration with corridor managers, in the implementation of Recreation and Community Sport (Siyadlala Hubs) programmes through corridors/ clusters, provincial and National levels (Indigenous Games and Golden Games) in Clusters/ Corridors and Hubs covering the geographic space of Gauteng Province.
• Forge and manage partnerships with municipalities, strategic departments, stakeholders and role players in Recreation, Tertiary Institutions, structures, forums and other civil society structures.

• Represented the department at Cricket Women's world cup,Telkom,Netball League Launch and at the International Rugby and Boxing Tournamednts hosted by the Province,Mobilised for the province to host major signature events.

• Technically Coordinate and Manage the South African Government’s Gauteng Provincial Government leg of the 2020 FIFA World Cup Commitments to FIFA for hosting the spectacular tournament.
• Ensure that all Government commitments, Host Cities and Support Municipalities, relevant provincial departments, municipalities and other role players and stakeholders comply with and meet the commitments made to FIFA and by the Provincial Executive Council approved by the Provincial Legislature.
• Consolidate all the reports and draft Cabinet Memos for approval of processes and recommendations of projects to be approved. These would first be presented at the Provincial Technical Task Team (Headed by the HOD), once agreed upon reports are then presented to the Political Task Team before going to the Provincial EXCO then Legislature.
• Technically manage the commitments to FIFA through the established 11 Programme Areas for ease of tracking progress, challenges and risks through the approved Integrated Implementation Plan.
• Draft and submit the Close-up report for approval at the end of the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

• Ensure advocacy and develop communications strategy for the Directorate including all its programmes guidelines, implementation and compliance.
• Implement and support drafting of budgets, operational plans and programmes for school enrichment and gender in line with balance score cards and provincial strategy.
• Ensure the inter directorate cooperation and programme alignment for curriculum delivery in life orientation in an integrated manner through GET and FET bands.

BACKGROUND ON SOCIAL PLAN: -

• The MEC instituted a programme called the Social Plan and allocated a budget of R50m to address the following broad objectives, i.e.
• Addressing the fundamental issues of access, equity, quality and redress with regard to poverty, health and wellness
• Catering for the social needs of young people within the schooling system to enable them to become productive, creative and dynamic citizens
• Complimenting the educational and curriculum needs of the learners via the social plan through sport, youth, arts, and culture.

THE TASKS OF THE SOCIAL PLAN TEAM INCLUDED:

• Coordination of Commemorative Days
• Values in Education
• Develop and Manage the School Sport, Arts & Culture Programme for the GDE
• Inaugurate the Annual Heritage School Festival
• Crime Prevention Programmes
• Develop Partnerships with Sport Federations
• Coordinate the Annual Extra-Curricular Awards Function
• Assist with The MOU Between GDE and SACR
• Assist with The MOU Between GDE And USSASA GAUTENG

• Ensured the reintroduction of Physical Training now to be known as Physical Education and Movement Education in all Gauteng Schools. Purchased Physical Development and Movement Equipment for all schools
• Ensure compliance of the programme with the Revised National Curriculum Statements in all schools including its timetable.
• Develop Communication Strategy and awareness of the Social Plan.
