Owner

Bag It and Pod Decor and Design
02.2000 - 12.2008
  • Managed day-to-day business operations.
  • Developed and maintained strong relationships with clients, resulting in repeat business and referrals.
  • Expanded product offerings by researching market trends and identifying potential growth opportunities.
  • I developed a canvas shopping bag ( each individually hand painted) on the back of conversations that were starting to be had on radio ( such as Cape talk- which I listened to at the time)
To address the plastic throw away problem.
Each canvas bag was painted with a specific food group with a simple nutritional explanation on the side of each.
Bringing awareness to nutrition and the fact that one bag could be reused- washed etc and that plastic did not need to be the shopping solution. At the time- I think I hit the curve just too early- and although I did sell bags, they did not sell as fast and in the numbers I expected- a valuable lesson learned here- is that timing is everything. Even if you are the first to come out with a product that is a solution to a large problem- if you arrive too early and the market is not ready, you may as well have been last.
The company later then also expanded into hand painted kids linen which was much more successful. Pod Decor and Design( 2003-2008)
