- I am responsible for maintenance of all technical services, projects, and utilities for the mine reporting to GES Estate Manager with some of the duties outlined below:
- Maintenance, operation of 22KV MV substations & distributions network according to Safe regulations to ensure 24/7 availability of power.
- Do Root cause analysis to determine cause of failures and implement corrective action to prevent recurrence.
- Do quality assurance on work done by contractors and sign off job cards.
- Plan and manage shutdowns/breakdowns to minimize interruption and safe execution.
- Perform inspection of Siding railway line and initiate corrective maintenance
- Arrange re-calibration of scales for the washing plant to ensure accuracy of tons delivered.
- Monitor and evaluate performance of water pumps of three dams feeding the mine offices and Coal processing plant.
- Ensure that installation is done as per design and commissioning is done with all drawings and documentation available.
- Maintain and troubleshoot Mast lighting in the siding, diesel bay and weighbridges.
- Troubleshoot electric fences and networking issues for camera system.
- Maintenance of grounds by ensuring that landscaping and gardening is done to an acceptable standard.
- Move, place and start de-watering diesel pumps to clear flooding and pits
- Administration.
- Sign off completed job cards planned and reactive maintenance.
- Prepare bill of quantities for material needed and send out request for quotations.
- Prepare RFQ and send to suppliers to source spares and services need in the technical services.
- Evaluate quotations against the bill of quantities and verify the costing to realize value for money.
- Create Purchase orders and receipt on completion of work.
- Prepare and send reports to management as and when required.
